My Atari 2600 didn't have the fake wood panel. I feel cheated. As far as the topic, no I don't buy it Lucas. It almost sounds like an alternate perspective of the "hardcore vs. casuals" topics. People might say I'm not a real gamer just because I haven't played Devil May Cry or ***GASP*** haven't played a Zelda game since Link to the Past, nevermind that I've been a gamer all my life.

The casual vs hardcore gamer argument is expected in here eh ? . That would depend largely on the age of the people posting here.
True, but that's just how I can see this thread going without some Gestapo-like moderation. Again, I see the point of the topic. I suppose there are many games that we could view as a rite of passage, but I think that gaming has exploded in variety and genre from our humble beginnings to the point where such conventions no longer exist.
And I would still look at someone like a leper for not having experienced Final Fantasy, Castlevania, Metal Gear, Halo, etc.:P
This isn't my intention, just so you know. I mean.. hell, if someone asks me if I've played a Pokemon game, I'd say no, and they'd say "How can you call yourself a gamer if you haven't played a Pokemon game!" It's more about surprise than it is hardcore vs casual. I'd appreciate it if the thread now come down to that.
