Just an ESRB/OFLC question in general. Plus another "mini complaint".

Just a question. A little n00bish one.

Do the ESRB/OFLC ban games from being released if they have nudity in them?

And for the complaint:

I THINK I JUST DELETED MY PROFILE ON MASS EFFECT!! NOOOOOO!!!! I mean it's still there but I can't access it again.

Now I have to go through all the boring long and boring conversations AGAIN!! I have to go through all that hard combat AGAIN!! I'm so stupid.

The ESRB doesn't ban games, they only rate them. Its the console manufactors and retail chains that effectively ban the games.

Yep. the retail stores refuse to carry AO rated games and none of the 3 console companies will allow them to be released on their systems. So, anyone who wants to release an AO game would have to rely on internet distribution. Thats how it works in the US anyway, it varies between markets.

The OFLC can refuse a game a classification, meaning that it can not be released in Australia. If there is any content they deem to not fit into the MA category (the highest rating for games) it will be refused classification.

Well, they don't get those ratings because they don't exist for games in Oz. Does the inclusion of nudity mean that it is refused classification? I don't know. I don't think the OFLC (or similar bodies worldwide) make public the exact conditions that need to be met for each classification. Depends how much nudity, I guess. Conan was released here, and the review said it had plenty of boobs.
