Spore, though it might be a little too complex for a 6 year old. Sims might also be fun though it has some adult themes, if your looking for a review site, your on it!
There is no need for reviews on games for 6 year olds because they are all going to be crap, but as long as they get to press buttons, move somewhere and feel like they are winning a game which pretty much completes itself then you've got them something that will hold their attention for at best, 30 minutes. After that they are bouncing off the walls again and you've got to sort out something else.
http://www.whattheyplay.com/is a family based gaming site.
http://www.esrb.org has ratings with all the content descriptors if you're curious about what the content of a given game is like.
Is your main concern appropriateness or difficulty?
When I was six, I was playing Mario, Spyro, Crash, etc. I'd look for platformers, a lot of them are appropriate for all ages.

You can filter the games on this site, either in the reviews or all games section, select PC and one of the genres people have been suggesting like platformer, simulation, virtual life (Sims) and maybe racing and adventure.
GameSpot should really add a kid friendly option to that list.
GTA San Andreas, it will teach wim respect for his gang, how to curbstomp hookers, how to steal cars...overall, a very good game for today's children.
My 4 year old cousin loves to play Lego games when he's here, so I guess go with them. Also if the kid loves an animated movie there's a big chance that there's an easy game for it. I have no clue if there is a kid-oriented review site, but here on Gamespot you can find a lot of Reviews
Quick wit, eh? I'd probably say the Lego games and some platformers, there's one game I would recommend, but it's not entirely kid-friendly, it's portal 2, but I'd say E-10 is a spot on rating.GTA San Andreas, it will teach wim respect for his gang, how to curbstomp hookers, how to steal cars...overall, a very good game for today's children.
