Video games aren't the only item to fall prey to suck situations. Modern American culture, a lot of times, seeks to remove responsibility from the individual who perpetrated the act and any possible cause can be used as such a scapegoat.muthsera666

^ That sadly is true.

Not sure if this has been posted before, but this is old news (October '08, I think?)

Brandon Crisp went missing in October, and was found dead in November. But this episode of The Fifth Estate ran on March 6.

How? At 15 you're not a little kid, you can handle violence and the kind of talk that goes on in xbox live (hell, the 12-15 year old age group are the ones spouting the vast majority of all the crap that gets said on XBL). Sure, 15 is two years younger than the recommended age for an M rated title, but I personally don't think that a teen is so young that they'll have trouble grasping what they're experiencing as they play an FPS like COD4. If the game was bought for an 8 year old, then yeah, that's probably a bit irresponsible. But for a high schooler? Come on.

Some 15-year-olds are not mature enough to handle some games. Personally,I agree with many of the ratings to act as a general rule. My parents allowed me to play such games because they knew that I was mature enough to handle them. We had several conversations, and my parents were always involved in my life. Too many parents don't take the time (or don't care enough) to really get to know their children and whether they can handle the material. If the kid ran away because of having some of his luxury items taken away, it sounds as though he wasn't mature enough.

You read my mind.

this is very very very true. Ive got a non related nephew ( I treat him like he is my nephew) who i already know is going to have major anger issues as he gets older because his family (or whats left of it) keeps brushing him off. Hes got serious abandonment issues because of his mom and dead who left him in the care of strangers for days at a time, and his aunt who snaps at him for everything. Hes meek as hell at the moment but thats cause hes 9. I guarantee as soon as he gets older, 13 and up. Hes gonna start lashing out, big time.

Yeah, that's horrible parenting. Although it's not the kid's fault, he shouldn't be allowed near M-rated games for a while.

Man,this is some s&*^.I played Redfaction when i was 7.And iam fine, violence is important to kids,Do you know y? It toughens them up. As for the kid being addicted, thats the parents fault for not being there for him when he needed it,while his Xbox/what ever was.So indirectly, the hero's of CoD or the Console became his parents(I know i sound crazy). But thats the truth. Plus,CoD(If you have played Campaign)shows the dark, bad parts of war and violence.
