Original story: As Reggie told a crowd of journalists at E3 earlier this year to "wait and see" how many players would be on the course at once in the new game, a trailer behind him clearly showed 12 karts lined up on the starting grid, as NGamer rightly pointed out in this huge preview.

The latest ONM sheds some light on what we can expect from the latest entry of the series, including the online side of things...
The latest edition of ONM reveals some information concerning the latest Mario Kart title, which is heading to the Wii early next year. When it was first announced, it was also claimed that the game would feature online Wi-Fi play, like it's predecessor - which launched Wi-Fi for the DS, including those friend codes...
ONM have stated that the popular battle section of the game would in fact feature 16 online player battles so people can duke it out to see who is number one. Players will also be able to pull stunts in mid-air, though it is not yet known if it will help game-play in a specific way, for instance avoiding those pesky blue shells.
And if you thought that wasn't enough, all the tracks that are available on the DS version of the title will also be available in the game, as well as brand new tracks. Gamers will be spoilt for choice. Not much else is known about the online mode at the moment, though we're clinging on to the hope that the friend codes might somehow be alleviated...
