*Shrugs* I guess one could look at it that way, but their selling 16K units in a week nor outselling the Wii by a mere 3K units strikes me as all that impressive. Looking at the software and hardware charts it clear that portables, not consoles are what get people excited in Japan. Couple that with the fact that the top selling game is a Wii game and I don't think Japan is entering a new era of PS primacy.

While I am pessimistic about the Japanese game market (its been shrinking since the PS2 days, and the Wii/DS only briefly reversed the shrinking) and have labelled Japanese gamers more casual oriented than their Western counterparts, its interesting (and maybe a partial refutation of my theory) that software sales has hadmore of an impact on hardware sales than they do here in the US. In Japan, when quality games/price cuts have been on offer, the X360, the PS3 and the Wii have all at various points been the bestselling consoles in Japan whereas in the US nothing impacts Wii sales.

Wow, the 360 has 1/3 the sales of the PS3. That's pretty impressive actually. Raiko101
