Bought the game for 8.99 which wasnt too bad for a used game. The gameplay for MGS 2 I'll have to get used to such as the dog tags but I had fun with the first game and should have fun with this 2nd game to Metal Gear Solid. The beginning of the game surprised me. Took like a half an hour watching the dialogue LOL with Snake and Otacon

Played it in 2001, and again in 2004 or so. Great game. One of my favorite PS2 games ever.

Spoiler just in case....

ANyone know what Genome soldiers have key cards during the beginning of the game? I keep finding a couple of doors that make a buzzing noise like you need to have a key card or something. Do I have to kill some of the genom soldiers to get a card or what?

Yea I was playing it just a few days ago to get the big boss rank. It's an amazing. It's the best MGS in terms of gameplay IMO.

I don't actually own the game, but I borrowed it from a friend about 3 years ago and finished it on normal mode. It was pretty good and I might pick it up sometime soon to play it again. The only metal gear games that I own are Metal Gear Solid 1 and Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake Eater. And slammjammin I have to ask, do you have the MGS 2 Sons of Liberty or Substance?

Hey JManRBS, I only have the regular Metal Gear Solid 2 game. I'm not really fond of those expansions such as Substance for MGS 2 and whatever the other one is called for Metal Gear Solid 3.

the bad thing about me buying Metal Gear Solid 2 from the pawn shop is that there's no instruction booklet. just some lame 2 pages of printed off demo gameshark cheats and one or two tips LOL.

Plus... more spoilers just in case..

When I was playing the game and after beating Olga, I didnt know about the dog tags but luckily there are soldiers still wandering around in the ship areas like the lounge and the engine room..

And its been like 6 years since I played Metal Gear Solid so my Metal Gear Solid gaming skills are a bit rusty even though I used to have only the first Metal Gear Solid.

no I haven't been living under a rock or living in a cave.

I just never had the time or money to go buy Metal Gear Solid 2. As of right now its my first time playing the game. Plus I still need to go buy Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops, Acid 1 and 2 and Metal Gear Solid 3 Snakeater

Already beat the game multiply times when the game first released and to be honest, i think it was the weakest of the series. The story was decent but watching raiden's character development was annoying. He just seemed to whine a lot. I will admit that the gameplay is as solid as any MGS game tho. I still stand by this hierarchy MGS3>MSG1>MGS4>MSG2 but hey that's just my take on it.

I'm actually playing it for the first time now. I'm at the part where I dress up as a guard and sneak around, but I have the Substance version so I got sidetracked with the VR missions.

Oh thats cool, I should've started on that mode but I think I tried normal first..and died...ALOT. On my second playthrough of MGS3 through I actually put it on very easy mode when I realised I wasn't too good at those types of games..though mgs1 I had an easier time with because of its radar.

Prepare to be baffled by a nightmare trainwreck of a storyline. I loved some of the bossfights in the game, but altogether its definetly the worst in the series. Id say part three is the best and you should go for that one.

I have it on my PC and I play it now and then. I've played the Tanker chapter thousands of times, I love playing as snake.

Its not as good as MGS1 but its fantastic and one of the better games on the PS2.

Spoiler alert just in case.

Right now I'm at the part where I have to take photos of the Metal Gear protype and its a pain especially with the Front-left and Front-right parts for the photos.

Is there some kind of trick to taking pics of the front-left and front-right of the Metal Gear? I cant stand the time limit also

Yup. I have the original Ps2 version with the 'making of' dvd, as well as MGS2: Substance for the XBox.

Recently, I picked it up again after beating MGS4, and the variety of game play still holds up today. If I were to choose my favourite from the series, then it would have to be this one. Each title is cool in their own right, but Sons Of Liberty definitely has a special place in my gaming heart. The overall experience sticks with you long after the first run through.

It ticked all the boxes that make a successful sequel. It had fun with those who'd played the original, (incorporating shades/hallmarks of the previous title, and putting a clever twist on them), while still managing to feel accessible and fresh to newcomers alike.

I actually completed MGS Twin Snakes recently and am going to start up MGS2 soon. I like to play the entire series at one time, kind of like watching the Star Wars Saga. I still say too many people hate on this game for the wrong reasons.

One of my favorite games of all time. I've beaten it countless times. It has some great gameplay and an awesome (but yet confusing) storyline. Great game dude. Have one with this one!
