"We've seen some research that says 60 percent of people who bought a Wii Fit play it once and don't play it again. So we have to get the balance right, because what we are doing is bringing new consumers into the market for the first time in their lives sometimes—and we have to treat them with respect,"

This is totally how i felt about the wii fit from the start. lucky for nintendo that people bought it, but i didnt see it sticking. My personal opinion is that people who are not gamers are naively buying peripherals that core gamers know better than to buy. Question is, does anyone care? people still seem to be buying these things like hotcakes, but will they be jaded for the next "must have" wii peripheral? Id love to know where they got their data though. This seems like a hard thing to track.

Microsoft has some strange numbers lately. They said last week that the average 360 owner spends 75 hours a WEEK using the system. Madness!:P

What? 75 hours a week? I wish I had that much time imagine how many games you could finish each and every week. I get about 20 hours a week for games and do most of my internet posting at work lol. Do these people work? Back on topic Wiifit looked stupid to me the very first time it was annouced, exercise lol!

I heard Steve Ballmer took personal control over their PR department.

"Wii Fit suxxors rar!!!"

...anyway, it wouldn't surprise me if Wii Fit got abandoned by most folks. Sticking with any workout routine can be tricky.

I'm still of the camp that's interested in picking up Wii Fit, but moreso from the standpoint that I'm still interested in the technology in the balance board, and think that it could definitely enhance several games on the Wii that try to go for a more arcade approach. Heck, something as simple as this would make a Time Crisis port to the Wii very close to the arcade version, for example.

But beside the point, the fact that a majority of people who bought this and stopped using it after so long is not surprising realistically...this is a common trend for most exercise related things, be it gyms, equipment, programs, etc.

and these are the guys who made 'Windows'. :|

WiiFit was a toy and anyone who thought it would finally make people exercise obviously has never met a human being.

It is really sad to see Microsoft concern themselves with Wii and the casual market, especially after gloating about their love for 'core gamers' back at E3 2007. After a great year sales wise in 2007, i guess the reason why 360 never took off was because MS completely neglected what made it a success in the first place. I really hope Sony doesn't follow this route because then we're all ****ed!

I have a feeling that 60% is probably comprised of the people that complain it's too exhausting, eventhough they are flailing around enough to put their cat through a wall.

Shaun White Snowboarding!

and that was not supposed to be funny or sarcastic or whatever, I actually think it's pretty neat. Wii Resort needs to have something that takes advantage of it. It is unfortunate that Nintendo had only one game to show for a peripheral that was unveiled last year.

Well, it's nice to know that Microsoft hasn't forgotten how to whine about the first-place console now that they're in second place again. ;)

It's not really "I'm not playing Wii Fit." In my opinion, it's more like "Wow! A free game came with the Wii Balance Board!"
