anytime I hear racial slurs, it ruins the game for me. I either leave the game, or team kill the offender until they leave.

The best thing I ever did was turn on my privacy settings (for 360). Gaming is so much more enjoyable now.I love the COD franschise but when MW1 came out I began to see a lot of bad Halo players make the migration over to what is obviously a superior game. For a long time I stopped playing COD beause of that and then I thought, "gee why should I miss out on a cool game that I paid for?" so I immediately blocked all communications and left them open to friends only and then I used my biospace as a message to all the POSs on XBL saying that they're lifeless morons and not to waste their time sending a message.I also don't accept random friend requests. That's the best you can do. I play MW2 religiously and have never had a bad social experience yet.
I also have a PS3 and must add for the record that while PSN players are aLOT more sophisticated the infrastructure is plagued with an assortment of con artists, chain mailers, and wierdos (trolls- bizarre luciferian black candle trolls). Sorry, fanboys PSN isn't perfect either. And I haven't had it working for awhile so not sure if they have a unfied mute system yet or not.
Why wouldn't they say a word? Because you would threaten them physically? If you're the type of person that threatens or impliesphysical violence as an equalizer to insults, then you are in fact worse (and likely less intelligent) than those that get under your skin with words.[QUOTE="JD-GW-TR-TJ-AL"]
some people are such racists i bet if they met someone of my size and height in a street they wouldnt say a word but they are so inconsiderate and think they are invincible over a MIC and and down a broadband cable
Mash_Affect
errm mate less intelegent no physical violence No just at my height and build i can be quite intimidating all tho i dont like to be but im not intending on halfine my leg size im a realy nice person im not a **** bag that goes looking for fights Ty and dont be skitty with intelegence views you sound very snooty so avoid that one buddy :)
[QUOTE="btaylor2404"]I think both communities are fairly bad. I basically mute everyone anytime I play a FPS online. It takes so much away from the game to have someone going on and on.Black_Knight_00I wish they put a 'mute all' function in MW2. When I play team modes and I want to chat with my friends I have to mute everyone else one by one every time... else someone will complain about us speaking "foreign languages".
i agree would make life so much easier wouldnt it :P

Online trash talkers are typically weak cowards trying to feel tough by running their mouth from behind a mic to someone who can't do anything about it. Just being physically present, and thus thinking their is the possibility of a physical retaliation, would be enough to make them keep their mouth shut. These days, you can never be too careful who you run your mouth at, especially during the holidays when so many people are wound so tight, you never know if you might be the proverbial straw that breaks the camel's back, and you end up hurt.... or even dead. Anyway, I don't play competitive games online, so I don't have this problem. The typical online gamer just sucks all the fun out of the hobby in a competitive setting, in my own experience.
I only play co-op games and MMORPGs. (non PVP)

XBL does come with a "mute all" function. From "My Xbox" open your profile. Then choose "Edit Profile" -> "Privacy Settings" -> "Voice and Text", and set it to "Friends Only".
It will briefly disconnect you from XBL, but when you come back, you'll only be able to hear your friends, and only they will be able to hear you. You can avoid all those racist, homophobic teenagers that seem to make up the bulk of XBL.

Or you can just play later on in the evening when half the XBL community has to go to bed. Its waaaay better not hearing all the 12 yr olds screaming. No, he wouldn't need to do that.
