I've been playing a bit of my Dreamcast lately, going through and trying to beat Shenmue , since I never finished it a long time ago. I noticed the visuals,, while dated by today's standards, they still look pretty good. I wanted to see what you guys thought were the best looking Dreamcast titles? I think RE Code Veronica would be in the top 5. Shenmue would be up there also. I thought the Dreamcast version of Legacy of Kain was a big improvement over the Playstation version. Power Stone and Power Stone 2 were also great looking titles. The 2k series also was impressive. What are the top 10 visually impressive Dreamcast games?

Yeah. I'm playing Headhunter right now. Great looking game. It almost feels unfinished though.

Yeah. I'm playing Headhunter right now. Great looking game. It almost feels unfinished though.

it came out late in the DC's life, I wonder if they did rush it a bit just to get release it before the DC was dead still a good game though , if somewhat flawed.

Indeed. It makes me think of what really coulda been possible on the mighty Dreamcast. If they could've made headhunter a bit more reactive to the environment, like entering buildings, shopping, etc., it probably would've been a AAA title.

Sonic Adventure looks very good also. Alone in the Dark is good looking, although it uses pre-rendered backgrounds.

Test Drive Le Mans was always heralded as on of the nicest looking DC games. It looks nearly a nice as an early Xbox game. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5gbH8sDEZWc Jet Set Radio's cel-shaded graphics also still look wonderful, even today.

Indeed. I forgot about that one. The car models were amazing! I still have it. I wish it was VGA compatible. Its one of my titles that aren't compatible with my VGA adapter. I remember being blown away when I first starting playing that game. That and Test Drive V-rally were great looking games. I wonder what happened to the talented staff @ Infrogames?

Yeah, that part where you're running on the docks and the killer whale is crashing everything behind you I remember being very cool looking.

Soul Calibur and Shenmue looked crazy good back in 1999/2000 imo.

Le Mans and Quake 3 looked very well too.

In terms of 3D, I'm still unsure. In terms of 2D: Sturmwind. My jaw dropped when I first played the beta version.

Unfortunately, it is still not out, and I do not know when it will be released or why it is still not published. The last version a received as a beta tester I'd call ready for release.

I haven't heard from the developers in months.

When I first heard about it, which was at least a year ago, i began following it, and other than a few updates here or there, it seems to have vanished. I thought it was a great effort, or fan justice, that they would still release a game on the dreamcast, even though it isn't in production anymore. I'm sure it would still sell, as there are tons of users who still play their Dreamcast. Hopefully it will finally get released. I'll be one of the first adopters for sure.

The beta version I received last year, this year I got two release candidates, the last one in August.

shenmue looked so good back in 1999, that during tokyo game show people and journalists were looking under tables to see what actual machien ran that game. biggest revolution in graphics I've ever seen.
