I bought a old N64 game off of eBay a few days ago and decided to go play it today. I put it in, turn on the system, and....nothing. No video. No audio. Thinking it was just the game I and tried multiple games that have always worked for me. That didn't work either. So I then tried cleaning the console and I even tried different AV cables - though none of them have worked. I am using an HD tv but the N64 has worked with the tv before.

I'm not sure what to do and any suggestions would be appreciated.

A couple of questions...

Is your power supply working? Does your N64 get power?

Is your connection from your game, or console in anyway flawed or corroded? Have you tried cleaning both with non abrasive cleaner?

Does your video cables work on another console?

Is your video cable completely connected to your console (hey, sometimes it happens to me)

- Yes, the red light goes on when I turn the N64 on

- No, both cords that I have tried are perfectly fine. I tried cleaning it as you said but it did not seem to do anything

- Yes, both cords work on my PS2 ( the cords are multi-console )

- That was one of the things I tried when it would not go on.

I also tried plugging the cables into a VCR which is connected to the TV - it didn't work, but the VCR did recognize the cables so I'm wondering if it is the system itself.
