One more note... I just hope that Nintendo does not get arrogant to the point of outputting crappy games. I would hate to see their brass develop an attitude of, "We're selling so many systems out there, who cares what they play on it now?" kind of thing. True, the PS2 library has volume, depth, and breadth. Nintendo has quite the catching up to do, but if their current sales data is indicative of things to come, Nintendo might just come out on top -- so long as they can stay loyal to their customers and do business by the polls.
The could reach 100 million IF sales continue to be this strong. I would love to see how the wii is doing in a few months when it starts losing popularity in mainstream media. The Wii does have things going for it though. It costs less than the ps2 did at launch and it is attracting new people to games(although I don't know how much they'll be playing after they get bored with Wii Sports).

As well as the facts that the price of the PS3 is going to probably go down to PS2-like levels ($300 US) sometime this generation (making the comparative value of the PS3 relative to the Wii much larger; this might also cause core gamers to side with the PS3 and abandon the Wii) and this generation might be longer than usual (I sure hope it is, but the Wii's software is going to look weak in comparison from the standpoint of possibilities, most notably graphics).

That's a very depressing thought, I hope consoles never die, the PC is the most socially degrading piece of hardware ever invented, and I hope to god it never goes into gaming mainstream.
Well, there's a good chance the Wii might surpass the PS2 in sales, but there's no way it can dominate this generation like PS2 did the last in variety of available titles and sheer mindshare.
