All those years of me being a diehard gamer, I still can't find my favourite game. All those 1st person shooters, stragedy, role-playin, each and 1 of the games ar good at somthin, but which is the actual best 1?

For me it's a tie between the original Super Mario Bros. and Resident Evil 4.twopic58
Ok seriousley, which one would you rather play. I mean sure mario is good and all but...re4 trumps it by far...
PEACE!!!
Tough call. I've been playing games for a while. It's kind of hard to think back on how much I loved older games from 15 years ago, and how would I compare those experiences to the games of the modern era..... Best of the Best on each platform.
Atari 2600: Centiped and Keystone Caper
NES: Darkwing Duck and Mario Bro's 3
SPNES: Turtles in Time and Donkey Kong Country
Genesis: Vectorman and Sonic and Knucles
Saturn: Panzer Dragoon
N64: Mario64 and Banjo and Kazooie
PS: Final Fantasy VIII and Ape Escape
PS2: Final Fantasy X and God Hand
Xbox: Combat Evolved, Knights of the Old Republic and Panzer Dragoon Orta
If you were to twist my arm I would say I got the most enjoyment out of Turtles in Time. That was the game of my childhood and would continue to play it even though I owned a N64 and PS1.
Over my 2 decades of gaming I've came across a lot of games that really impressed me and will always be in my head as some of the best games ever, but it's truly hard to decide just one to be my best game ever.
Now, 1 that will stay in my mind as one of the greatest games ever will be Halo 1 for the Xbox. Not because of Gameplay, story, or anything like that really. But the fact that it was a very competitive game for me was one thing I enjoyed about it, but it seemed that almost everyone played it, or could play it and very well like it. Every single person that I know around my area, all my friends, relatives and just overall everyone in general.
So many weekends were spent at my house with 4 xbox's linked together and my house filled with at least 16 people up to 50 people and everyone that was there would be getting in on the fun. It could be one of my friends girlfriends that have never played a video game in their life. But, give them 5 minutes to learn the controls and they were good to go, not knowing what to expect, and the next thing you know, they are getting their first kill and the trash talking commences. It was just amazing how people with no gaming experience, or no interest in games what so ever could enjoy the game and were willing to play it. It shocked me big time, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who got this reaction to the game when it came out and even years to come. Even after Halo 2 was out we were still getting together on the weekends and gaming it up with Halo 1. I mean every so often we would all go some rounds in Halo 2, but the ones who didn't game and just liked to have fun and get a kill or two all preferred Halo 1.
So, I would have to say, from awe of shock, and it's amaziness to attract all kinds of people to it. Halo 1 would have to be the best game ever.
I don't think there is a best game ever but it's all down to personal opinion anyway.zeus_gb
Most definately. There isn't a single person who couldput a title on any one game labeling it as "The best game ever" and have every gamer agree with him/her. It is all about personal prefrence and opinion. Now if there ever did come a day where someone labelled a game as "The best game ever" and atleast 85% of gamers agreed, then you might actually be looking at the best game ever and should truly embrace it.
Then sometimes, the games that people will just come and announce to the gamespotters as being the best game ever isn't even close to the best game, and probably isn't the best game that the person who posted the thread has played. It seems a lot of times they post about the newest release that they just played is the best game ever, but this is just because its fresh in your mind and was the most recent game to stimulate your gaming senses.
There can be no objective "best game ever." It is only what games are your favourites or what games you think are better than most.foxhound_fox
Pretty much nailed it.
I would have to say Metroid Prime.
In my opinion, the best game ever is Earthbound for the SNES. It's the only RPG I ever really loved.iam1006945
Odd, because its one of the few RPG's I ever really hated. Another would be Ys on the NES.
ive been gaming for about 20 years, i like all genres of games but one that sticks out in my mind most is final fantasy 7... and maybe final fantasy 1 which ive played through more times than any other game ive ever owned, funny that i didnt even like it the first time i played it, but it grew on me and im thankful that it did.
