Its sad to see arguably one of my favorite franchises from last generation become what it has now . While NG 2 left a sour taste, it still was a good game. RIP NG , same goes to DMC reboot (Ninja Theory) :(

Did you try any of the higher difficulties? Trust me, the game gets hard. Just not so much on the standard difficulty. Now NG 2 was a different story. Itagaki left Team Ninja and was no longer head programmer of this sequel. As soon as I heard this I wasn't holding many expectations for NG 2. Now, only owning a PS3 I played NG Sigma 2, and was disappointed that Team Ninja had decided to basically do away with all the blood and gory goodness for this PS3 port. Why? Not sure, but the Xbox version sure was violent, so I figured I'd play it and try to enjoy it besides the blood. ...only thing was, this didn't feel better or at least the same as the first game. The bloodless action took away from the atmosphere. I didn't feel very bada** or strong considering how clean everything was. Not only that, but the game became a typical hack and slash, taking Ryu from room to room, throwing enemies at him, only to have him progress a few steps and do it all over again. The enemies were MUCH easier to defeat this time around. So much thata casual button masher would be able to get through them, only being relatively challenged by the boss fights. I myself died only during the first boss fight once. On the second level my then 5 year old cousin played for a few minutes and was able to beat out 2 hordes of enemies, simply by button mashing. No joke. The challenge was gone, replaced by much easier enemies, MUCH less puzzle segments and a very annoying and relentlessly bad techno soundtrack that tried to make things hyped up to build tension and speed, but just came off as annoying. The artistic merit andninja stealth atmosphere was mostly gone. Was the game bad? No, just didn't improve on the original one bit, except for maybe slightly better graphics. Maybe.

Anyone remember what Hayashi said about NG2 and Bayonetta in an interview last year ? "I think Ninja Gaiden II is already outdated," Hayashi explained. "That's why we are making Ninja Gaiden III from scratch ... Bayonetta has some good stuff but Bayonetta is old, game design wise, already" Link hereZensword
That's hilarious. Explains NG3's failures.

Just about everything Hayashi has said over the last couple of years runs in sharp contrast to what he actually delivered with NGIII.
I don't hate the game by any stretch but had the man actually done many of the things he claimed he was going to do NGIII could have been so much better.
