I remember going to sleep at night and my parents secretely staying up to play Super Mario Brothers on the NES that they had bought. I remember then learning to also how to play it, and then going through the 90's owning practically every system (including the Virtual Boy, but not the Saturn, though I once rented it from Blockbuster back when they rented consoles along with Doom). I remember awesome games like (though a little obscure) Dynamite Heady, and playing Super Mario World and discussing it with my brother and all of my friends. I remember a really old Mac that I had and installing games on it with floppy disks. I remember spending a lot of time with Mega Man X up to Mega Man X3. I remember getting a Gateway computer (with 200mhz, and a 2GB HDD :O) for which I promptly bought the orginal Command and Conquer and being so blown away by a realtime stategy game. I remember playing Mario 64 for the first time on the new 32" screen television that my parents had just bought (at the time, 32" seemed huge), and thinking it was the most amazing thing ever and spending so much time getting every star. I remember playing Twisted Metal 2 for very long periods of time with my neighbor. I remember thinking how crazy the graphics were when I first bought my Dreamcast.
This is of course also excluding the copious amount of time that I spent playing other awestome games like Suoer Mario Brothers 3, Super Mario RPG, Chrono Trigger, Armored Core, Final Fantasies, Star Fox 64, Mario Kart 64, Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, I could go on forever...
Man, gaming was so much more fun back then.
