I'm not sure what you're talking about; I don't think we're talking about the same thing. I never quoted a TJ. PannicAttack mentioned something about another dispute online, presumably some youtuber (I'm not sure I've never heard of any of the people you're talking about, this TJ included), where apparently a person said to another, "They should give your rapist a fucking medal." Ryvius then stated what is the context because context should matter when telling someone their rapist deserves a medal. I responded to Ryvius' comment and you said I turned his words.

Whether or not the comment that PannicAttack mentioned was true or not is besides the question because I was responding to Ryvius' reaction.

@liquidbutter: If you're going to make a statement on someone's thoughts, then it's important to hear what they have to say. If you do in fact disagree with her you can argue from there. Of course, she's going to try and spread her agenda that was the goal of this video series. She saw what she thinks to be a problem in the industry and is spreading her opinion about that in hopes to change it. To not watch the video and still dissent against her and her ideas is a bigger problem than her being allowed to voice an opinion.

Well she's basicly just spewing her opinions and just taking other people's footage. If that's "doing" research then i would do it in a heartbeat...

Alternatively, step outside the box for the moment and consider two things, and how they go together:

1. Your position is that there is totally no problem with misogyny in the gaming industry or community.

2. You defend a list of remarks that includes "I will make you a rape victim if you don't **** off" and other similar statements.

First of all you're showing me a small part of the post and he actually says he's joking there. So from this context it's hard to say. And yes, i am against misoginy. If he had said something that actually doesn't imply he is joking or trolling, then yeah, i would be against it

Considering she claimed to be a gamer in her kickstarter campaign and claimed that she noticed these issues of sexism and that was supposedly the basis for her putting together this project, it does matter. She flat out lied to scam people out of money which is dispicable.

On top of that it just shows that she had an agenda. She didn't experience this stuff and look for help to do proper research to put together a good argument, she asked for money so she could get a bunch of games and put together an argument. It completely invalidates her findings. You never go in to a scientific experiment having a conclusion already at hand.You ask a question and research to see if it is true.

There is a funny thing about free speech BTW. She has the freedom to say something, and it also means we have the freedom to call her a moron when she says stupid shit. She is the freaking PETA of the video game world. Takes a topic where there are genuine issues with genuine points to be made and makes an ass out of the movement by forcing herself to the forefront and spewing loads of stupidity. Well yeah people should listen to what she says first. I have personally watched a couple videos of hers and found it to be full of drivel. I am a big animal lover and totally believe in the idea of animal rights. I also hate PETA with an absolute passion. The jackasses make the animal rights movement look downright insane and on top of that they personally manage to kill more animals than they save. They have a perfectly valid cause yet manage to completely **** it up every step of the way.

Anita is doing the same thing. She is setting things back with her stupidity. She now has created a backlash and thanks to her ridiculous arguments the backlash is justified, albeit people definitely take things way too far. Instead of pulling people to the cause she has pushed them away.

Oh and about the agenda thing, I think she is more just a general feminist which is what I meant about her having agenda. She is not even a gamer and has no love for the gaming community. She is just trying to bring her outside views into a community she neither knows nor cares to know. That really makes her not the person who needs to be spearheading this movement.

Just like PETA, Anita needs to just step aside and let people who know the community and know what they are talking about take care of the movement. She will only do more harm than good.

Having watched the whole video, some of the issues she mentions about open-world games appear to be more general rather than women-specific. One issue I've always had with open-world games is the almost complete lack of a decent risk-reward system. You can just murder any innocent civilian in broad daylight and get away with it with just a slap on the wrist. If you're caught murdering a random civilian, you should be getting a life sentence, not just a day in prison and a small fine. It's a serious game design flaw with open-world games in general.

Having read about this on several different forums now, a consensus seems to have emerged that this is a discussion that needs to happen, but that it would be better if Anita was not the person at the forefront of it. So long as she is the one presenting this topic to the gaming community, it will never produce a meaningful discussion, and not only will nothing positive be accomplished, but her presence will actively cause damage to the cause she has claimed.

We need someone who can engage in respectful civil discourse, and can also be bothered to actually do their due diligence and present a more fully researched well argued presentation. Right now ANYONE who points out the many huge flaws in her presentations is immediately equated to the people who issued death/rape threats by her followers and her, and is treated with disdain by both. Not all feminists are morons, (Suey Park and Anita are) and not everyone who disagrees with them is a sexist/rapist.

Adults on both sides need to take the forefront, and the drooling dunder headed primates on one side, (rape and death threat people) and the arrogant elitist pseudo intellectual asshats on the other (Anita and her followers) need to just go the hell away and never be heard from again until they can collectively pull their heads from their asses and grow up.
