I'm not sure what you're talking about; I don't think we're talking about the same thing. I never quoted a TJ. PannicAttack mentioned something about another dispute online, presumably some youtuber (I'm not sure I've never heard of any of the people you're talking about, this TJ included), where apparently a person said to another, "They should give your rapist a fucking medal." Ryvius then stated what is the context because context should matter when telling someone their rapist deserves a medal. I responded to Ryvius' comment and you said I turned his words.

Whether or not the comment that PannicAttack mentioned was true or not is besides the question because I was responding to Ryvius' reaction.

@liquidbutter: If you're going to make a statement on someone's thoughts, then it's important to hear what they have to say. If you do in fact disagree with her you can argue from there. Of course, she's going to try and spread her agenda that was the goal of this video series. She saw what she thinks to be a problem in the industry and is spreading her opinion about that in hopes to change it. To not watch the video and still dissent against her and her ideas is a bigger problem than her being allowed to voice an opinion.

lol ya same here

100k wouldn´t be a bad 30min wage :D

Well she's basicly just spewing her opinions and just taking other people's footage. If that's "doing" research then i would do it in a heartbeat...

@The_Last_Ride: I'm waiting for the part where you explain how that makes it okay.

Alternatively, step outside the box for the moment and consider two things, and how they go together:

1. Your position is that there is totally no problem with misogyny in the gaming industry or community.

2. You defend a list of remarks that includes "I will make you a rape victim if you don't **** off" and other similar statements.

First of all you're showing me a small part of the post and he actually says he's joking there. So from this context it's hard to say. And yes, i am against misoginy. If he had said something that actually doesn't imply he is joking or trolling, then yeah, i would be against it

Indeed. How dare a woman have an opinion! We definitely shouldn't reward such women by listening to their opinions. Such opinionated women need to learn their place!

He's the internet famous celebrity though, so his end of that argument was the only part that anyone ever mentions. Not to excuse him, but he actually did apologize when he calmed down and realized how poorly he behaved.

As for the topic at hand... Anita isn't a gamer. It's widely known she admits it privately to her feminist colleges and was caught on film doing it. She lies about it to the media and the public because the web series gets her more attention that when she used to report about the same thing in films. She will just use any platform she can to spread her feminist ideology, even if she has no interest in the subject she's talking about. Which she often doesn't and barely is able to pretend to. I'm not even going to click the play button or video that youtube page. She's not worth the click.

Does it matter if she doesn't personally think of herself as a "gamer"? She's clearly done research on the topic as evidence for her case and is recognized in the development community as someone with a notable cause (she was given an Ambassador Award at GDC). Whether you agree with her argument in the video or not, which right now you're forming blindly having not watched the video, it doesn't mean she should be limited or lambasted for expressing her belief based on anything other than her argument she presented. Almost all the comments have been about her and not the message; no one is discussing the content in the video, possibly because few watched it.

It should be noted that I'm not saying I agree with all of her message -- I think she made a good point and then got carried away with it in the second half of the video -- but the fact that almost everybody would rather dismiss and shit on her personally is somewhat troubling.

@Minishdriveby: uhm they haven't said that mate. You're completely turning the words. Also someone like MrRepzion, thunderf00t and Amazing Atheist have taken here apart with logic and facts

I quoted him. He said context would matter for a statement like "They should give your rapist a fucking medal." I don't think I'm turning words.

To the thing in bold, sorry but i have to do a LOL at the last bit.

lol research...

But of course it matters if the one coming with ideas to "improve" gaming isent even a gamer himself or have a clue on what really goes on in the gaming community. After all would you have a football manager who had zero experience in football? no then you have also again have the answer.

She is also a liar.

She says she loves videos games and has played them since she was a kid.

Then in another video she says she doesn't play them and doesn't like them either.

Here videos are really pointless because it's not about a solution.

It is only about her cherry picking parts to suit her agenda.

Like I said before, I could easily cherry pick parts to make it seem like video games are against males.

Context does matter.

It shows what led to the situation and the meaning behind them.

I could bring up many scenarios that can change the meaning behind those quotes.

Do you think it's all black and white?

You are too emotionally invested in this and it is clouding your judgement.

"It's a joke" does not excuse shitty behavior. Certainly not when it isn't funny, which in this case it wasn't.

What TJ did was shitty behavior. Saying it's a joke doesn't excuse it.

I concur! The fuckin' nerve of those female assholes! Where do they get the balls big enough to think they can have an opinion on society and culture and expect to be heard by an open-minded individual? Not only that, they have the gall to criticise our precious video-games. Don't they know that video games are for 18 - 25 year old men who drive pick-ups, drink redbull, and bench-press? Those soft-core scum have no right to partake in my hobby.

You're getting angry at a woman, making accusations against her, and joining a witch-hunt against her, without even bothering to listen to what her opinions or arguments even are. And then you go out of your way to defend a blatantly mysogonistic, threatening, rape comment from the bigoted twat "AmazingAtheist". You're a closet sexist, and you know it.

@Jag85: Not even mad, bro. Not in any witchhunt and not making any accusations. Your desperate attempts to troll me aren't working. I never even defended the rape comment. I said he apologized for the rape comment. That is a fact, not a defence. You're obviously just trying to antagonize me so I'll come back and keep the topic bumped, thus causing more people to see the video, which is your real sad sad goal. Not taking part in your game anymore.

Ah here we go! hahaha everyone hop on board the LMFAO train bitches, cause there aint no stopping for these butt hurt wankers! haha

OT: I think people need to realise that video games are just flat images on a flat sony bravia screen. That in no way shape or form try to reflect real life situations or society in general. Except for Hookers, them sluts exist IRL deal with it.

I certainly don't see any apology in the screenshot posted by PannicAttack above, so no, it's not a "fact". Whatever way you look at it, Terroja/AmazingAtheist still looks like a misogynistic twat.

And no, I couldn't care less whether or not you respond back, or watch the video or not. I just find your stance to be moronic, forming an opinion about someone without even knowing what that person's opinions even are. That's just dumb, mate.

Oh, he made a self-serving, insincere "apology" in a PM to the individual. The kind of "I'm sorry that backfired on me" kind of apology, not the "sorry I made that claim statement and my future behavior will adjust accordingly" kind. Still a shithead.

I don't see why you feel the need to defend the indefensible. The guy was way out of line. He has the right to behave that way if he wants to, but its quite clear that he needs to grow up if he wants anyone to respect his opinions.

I would love for those girls that were kidnapped and sold off into slavery in Africa to watch this video. Or how about the numerous women in the middle east that are sold into marriage at 8 years old, stoned to death, persecuted and treated as property with no rights what so ever. I'm sure they would get a kick out of this as well.

It's really no wonder people in the rest of the world hate us. Look how unbelievably stupid we are. This is our big modern day issue at the moment. Spoiled 1st world broads complaining that they can't play as a female avatar in a video game. Trust me femi nazis, you have it fucking easy here, and you should seriously consider counting your blessings that you even have the opportunity to voice your opinions, let alone not be sentenced to death for them.

Considering she claimed to be a gamer in her kickstarter campaign and claimed that she noticed these issues of sexism and that was supposedly the basis for her putting together this project, it does matter. She flat out lied to scam people out of money which is dispicable.

On top of that it just shows that she had an agenda. She didn't experience this stuff and look for help to do proper research to put together a good argument, she asked for money so she could get a bunch of games and put together an argument. It completely invalidates her findings. You never go in to a scientific experiment having a conclusion already at hand. You ask a question and research to see if it is true.

There is a funny thing about free speech BTW. She has the freedom to say something, and it also means we have the freedom to call her a moron when she says stupid shit. I find it odd how people seem to forget that part and get pissy when you call people out on stuff like this. Also love how you are suddenly a sexist asshat when you call out people like Anita for saying something stupid. I feel like there might be more sexist people DEFENDING Anita than there are actually arguing against her....

I am not watching the video right now. Maybe later so I can type up my thoughts. If it is anything like her previous work then I will be pointing out the stupid shit she says.

She is the freaking PETA of the video game world. Takes a topic where there are genuine issues with genuine points to be made and makes an ass out of the movement by forcing herself to the forefront and spewing loads of stupidity. Just because you have a good cause does not mean you are right when you make your points. She needs to step aside and let people with intelligence take over the movement.

@Minishdriveby: He also apologized for the comment. The woman he told it to was pushing his buttons and provoking him. He said horrible shit, so did she.

I'm not getting pissy that people are calling her a moron when she says stupid shit. I'm getting pissy when people call her a moron before listening to her stupid shit. There's the key difference.

I'm not saying I agree with everything she says either; I don't. I think she made a couple notable points in the beginning and begins to fall down the rabbit hole afterwards. And yes these videos are to further her agenda, isn't that the point? If I was going to protest against meat, I would be going to the protest to further my agenda. If I was going to protest for gay marriage, I would be going there to further my agenda. If I was going to protest about.... well I think you get the point.

Well yeah people should listen to what she says first. I have personally watched a couple videos of hers and found it to be full of drivel. I don't even find her to hit on good points and it is ridiculous because when it comes to sexism in the gamin world there are most certainly good points to be touched on.

It's a big reason she pisses me off so much. People like her do more to hurt their cause than help it. They make the movement look stupid when they shove themselves to the forefront like that and spew nonsense. I really can't imagine that with the issues of sexism in gaming she seriously manages to put together such stupid arguments in her videos, and on top of that she cherry picks terribly and she can't even use her own damn footage despite getting all that fucking money via her kickstarter campaign.

I am a big animal lover and totally believe in the idea of animal rights. I also hate PETA with an absolute passion. The jackasses make the animal rights movement look downright insane and on top of that they personally manage to kill more animals than they save. They have a perfectly valid cause yet manage to completely **** it up every step of the way.

Anita is doing the same thing. She is setting things back with her stupidity. She now has created a backlash and thanks to her ridiculous arguments the backlash is justified, albeit people definitely take things way too far. Instead of pulling people to the cause she has pushed them away.

Oh and about the agenda thing, I think she is more just a general feminist which is what I meant about her having agenda. She is not even a gamer and has no love for the gaming community. She is just trying to bring her outside views into a community she neither knows nor cares to know. That really makes her not the person who needs to be spearheading this movement.

Just like PETA, Anita needs to just step aside and let people who know the community and know what they are talking about take care of the movement. She will only do more harm than good.

Having watched the whole video, some of the issues she mentions about open-world games appear to be more general rather than women-specific. One issue I've always had with open-world games is the almost complete lack of a decent risk-reward system. You can just murder any innocent civilian in broad daylight and get away with it with just a slap on the wrist. If you're caught murdering a random civilian, you should be getting a life sentence, not just a day in prison and a small fine. It's a serious game design flaw with open-world games in general.

Having read about this on several different forums now, a consensus seems to have emerged that this is a discussion that needs to happen, but that it would be better if Anita was not the person at the forefront of it. So long as she is the one presenting this topic to the gaming community, it will never produce a meaningful discussion, and not only will nothing positive be accomplished, but her presence will actively cause damage to the cause she has claimed.

We need someone who can engage in respectful civil discourse, and can also be bothered to actually do their due diligence and present a more fully researched well argued presentation. Right now ANYONE who points out the many huge flaws in her presentations is immediately equated to the people who issued death/rape threats by her followers and her, and is treated with disdain by both. Not all feminists are morons, (Suey Park and Anita are) and not everyone who disagrees with them is a sexist/rapist.

Adults on both sides need to take the forefront, and the drooling dunder headed primates on one side, (rape and death threat people) and the arrogant elitist pseudo intellectual asshats on the other (Anita and her followers) need to just go the hell away and never be heard from again until they can collectively pull their heads from their asses and grow up.
