I'm playing Resident Evil remake for GC and I love the atmosphere and all but I'd gladly pay top dollar if they'd redo the game yet again but only changing the movement. If they'd leave the rest of the game as is an only making the movent/controls like RE4 then it would be mindblowing! I'd pay nearly any amount of $ to have a game like that. Even though the chars. move like a tank on it I still love it but I can't imagine how much better it'd be if they did this. Anyone else feel the same? Seriously think about it! I mean I know that this would never happen, ever but just the thought....

They would pretty much have to redo the game ground up, seeing as REmake has a fixed camera angle and the RE4 scheme requires a behind the back camera, there would have to be tweaking with the enemy AI and amount of enemies (Be far to easy to blow almost anything out of your way in REmake with a RE4 control scheme) bosses would have to be reworked, the whole nine yards. Although i do agree it would be amazing.

Actually no, in the first RE game you are giving a lot less ammo then RE4 so you wouldnt be able to blast your way threw, but when you do get in a fight where you need your gun it would be easier but not much,

id love to see a remake of 2 and 3. i think the new versions of the other games are the definitive versions and no more should be made. 2 and 3 were great games that would have done just as well as the newer remakes if done. but i guess thats what makes them so pricey, the limited release and kinda subpar graphics for the system.

The problem with what you are suggesting about the control scheme is that its not really survival horror. At least not very good survival horror. The way the REmake is made with 'clunky controls', 'annoying' camera angles and slow door openingis the whole point. Its there to improve creepiness, atmosphere and tensionand make you feel claustrophobic etc. If they make it like RE4 it becomes a shooter, not a survival horror game. The devs of Silent Hill mentioned this recently in an interview about their new Wii "reimagining" (so, remake then?) of the first Silent Hill. They want that atmosphere, not emphasis on action. Another reason why I love Fatal Frame , Clock Tower and the Forbidden Siren series. They focus on inability to fight back (by conventional means in FF's case) and there are very tight spaces too..

RE4 had one creepy moment for me personally, and that was the bit where I first came across a regenerator. Why? Because when I blew his legs off, he was faster than me, and I only just made it to the door. Thats how Resident Evil games were much more often before that game, more thrilling for me.

It would be much better if they remade RE 3 Nemesis and RE 2 but kept the controls, like the did with RE 1. That game really showcases what the GC could do graphically, and why the Wii can do some nice graphics if it devs tried hard enough. I mean, when games that look that good exist on the GC, you can see why people are annoyed that many Wii games dont strive to AT LEAST that level of graphics.

Thanks for all of the great feedback everyone. There were some great points made, I understand them all but I'd still like to play a RE1 and RE4 mixture/game. I agree about it not being as much of a survival horror an more of a shooter but I still think it'd be a cool experience. Keep it coming!

I honestly think such a control scheme would be bad when it came to the Resident Evil games before Resident Evil 4. If you have a camera behind a character then your enemies are relatively fast, this is shown in Resident Evil 4 when the infected villagers come running towards you and even Dead Space. The traditional zombie is slow and staggers rather then walk, it has a hard time moving around and slow reflexes. If you mix those with the camera angle and controls of Resident Evil 4 then you either need them pop out everywhere, be infected people the run instead or else you'll be too ower powered.

Holy crap! I'm a psychic! They're rereleasing RE for the Wii! I don't know how the controls/point of view is going to be changed but it blows my mind that I brought this up and now its actually happening. Especially since this is the 4th time the game is being redone making it all the more "impossible". I don't have a Wii at the moment but you can bet that I will. I want to play Madworld, House of the Dead and this. Crazy!

Ever seen the RE4 beta footage? I link this to a lot of people looking for a classic RE/RE4 mix, it's what the next RE should be IMO http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D3204sOL-AY

I think the original Resident Evil game is a bit too small for it to work very well in full 3D. But they should totally do this with Resident Evil 2.
