Hey everyone! Well I just wanted to know what everyones parents think of your gaming habits. Im sure we've all heard the "All you do is play that game all day" line, even when it's 100 percent not true.

Heres my story, I play competetive soccer (the kind where you play for your city, and have to actually try out and make the team, not like where you just pay and play), im pretty popular at school (won class clown at prom), im really into tuner cars and modifying my own (92 prelude SR), and I have a great gf who I spend tons of time with. NOW im sorry for telling you my life story but I need to so I can get the point across.

Now, alot of the time I'll do a bunch of stuff during the day, I'll come home, fire up some H3/COD4/Gears and jump on live, play for 1-4 hours and in the middle of it, my parents will come home from work and I'll get that "All you do all day is play video games, why don't you go outside". Yes I get this line ESPECIALLY when my parents know about my life aha

So are your parents the same way? It's really irretating to hear this over and over again.

I don't live with them anymore, but when I did I got full support.

It was my only hobby and they encouraged it.

They hate it. Especially when I try to convince them to let me buy Halo or something.

I'm outside for most of the year, except Fall. Winter I have Street hocket, Spring I have Roller hockey and Summer I have the pool. They need to stop complaining.

I don't live with my parents anymore, but when I did they usually supported my gaming. Unless I wanted to play when they wanted to watch the news.

My mum actually loved to watch me play, and still loves it when I come home sometimes and play. She knows a whole lot about Zelda, Super Mario and Sonic, but never really enjoyed Final Fantasy and the other RPG's. I think it's kind of sweet:) I don't know anyone else who's got a mum who knows so much about video-games!

Sometimes, I will just be on the computer researching or typing on a forum and they tell me all I do is play video games. It's annoying sometimes, but I just have to deal with it. There are worse things you can do than play games all day. I guess sometimes it's best to ignore the criticism. Offcoarse there are people who have problems, like the person who played WOW all days and ignored his whole social life.

Well I am in football now so I get home from school at 6. I am joining basketball in the spring. I also am learning about computers now, repairs and stuff like that, I want to have a career in that. I usually come home, go out to my buddies house, and then come home around 10 and play till like 1. My parents don't complain because they are sleeping by 10.

They jokingly call me "Vampire".
My mom lives in the old "Videogames are for children" state while my dad shares my entusiasm as long as it involves racing games.

My mother doesn't mind it, but my father views it as a disgrace of time consuption. He views gaming as an abomination. Sad fo rhim really. Not my problem.

When I lived at home, my parents didn't worry too much about it. I went out with my friends, got decent grades, had a job, I guess they figured I deserved to play if I wanted to, and it wasn't costing them anything. Even now though, every once in a while, my Mom will still make a comment like "that seems like an awful lot of games you have". I think since it's usually about 4 to 6 months in between her visits to my house (my parents our about 600 km away) , she forgets what my collection looks like. She doesn't "get it" when it comes to games. My Dad doesn't mind playing every now and then though.

When i was a kid i used to play video games for hours! Sometimes on the weekend i would stay in all day playing a game. The way my parents thought was i could be out getting into trouble so its not the end of the world if i want to stay in and play some games. I was like you, popular in school. Played Ice Hockey and Baseball growing up, had a lot of friends. During the day we would ride our bikes but once 5 or 6 came around and i was in that would be it. I would just fire up my NES or SNES and play for hours!

Now im a parent and i still see nothing wrong with video games. I think parents view of games will change soon seeing as all us gamers from the 80's and 90's are now having kids of our own so obvisouly being gamers ourselves we support it!
