I have one of the old, fat PS2s. When I turn it on, it says Browser, and System Configuration. And it's fine. But then I put a game in. It flashes, "PlayStation2" across the screen, and then.... nothing. It doesn't work. It's not the disc, I've tried three. Can anyone help?

No, it's just a black screen.

Nah thats not a disk read error problem! I've seen something similar with a ps2 I was repairing, this was caused by humidity getting to the mother board, in 9 out of 10 cases though, its probably from a liquid getting spilled and then reaching the mother board, but if nothing was spilled then it could be humidity. in other words, if you don't know how to repair ps2's and replace parts then you might as well try and buy another ps2!

have you tried cleaning it?

I had this problem when my ps2 was really dusty.

If you dare to open it yourself, i'd recommend compressed canned air in spray for the lens

good luck mate
