So lateley ive been getting bored of the wii. In fact the only game i still play on it is guiter hero. IN the future, besides the conduit, i do not see and new games worth getting. After trading in my old GC games and some of my wii games i have around $140 of gamestop store credit. Ive been thinking about saving up for a 360. But now ive heard about the ps2 being dropped to $100. Do you think i should just buy that instead?

If I HAD to choose ONE I would pick PS2. Like you said its only 100$, and you can get so many great games for cheap no matter what your taste in games is.

I'd get it. It was easily the best console last gen, so many great games and just as many hidden gems. Go for it.

The Playstation 2 is quite possibly the greatest system of all time, in terms of the variety of games available for it.

At $100 you can't go wrong. If you buy them used they are even cheaper than that (just don't buy it at Gamestop/EBGames, of course).

Absolutely, PS2 is one of the greatest gaming systems ever made, the selection of games is huge and many can be found for dirt cheap. For $100 is a no brainer, specialy if you have never owned one.

I would say yes. I bought one last night just because of the price drop. One of the greatest librarys ever. And if you are a guitar hero fan, they are still releasing content for the PS2.

If you have the extra cash I'd say go for the 360. The 360 and PS2 are my two favorite systems. But for the price of getting a 360 and 1 game, you could get a PS2 and about.....10 games (if you were planning on purchasing the 360 Pro). If online gaming is a big deal for you get the 360. If not, the PS2 is an awesome choice. If you play RPG's the PS2 is THE system for those RPG's. If not, there are still dozens, if not hundreds of good games for the PS2...and they are cheap. Devil May Cry Triology is $30. You could probably get all of the Ratchet and Clank games for about $50-$60, both God of Wars for $40.

If you're like me and think the PS2 is the equivalent of the NES in terms of it's popularity. If you never owned a PS2 you ought to get one.

Although keep in mind you will have a last gen console in hand, and your peers in school will probably laugh at you if you buy a PS2 now.

It's equivalent to buying a NES in during the Genesis/SNES era.

The PS2 is a great console with an amazing library of games - but the 360 is also a great consolewith a great library of games....great online support.....next generation hardware.

Personally, for my 'main' machine i like to have a next gen console - don't you want to play the latest games? Ive got a PS3 and i still like to play older games but at the end of the day i want to play whats new.

Go for the 360 man!

I personally would not spend my money on consoles from Gamestop-- they're reliable for cheap games and great, working consoles; But for me, I take the cheap way out and look on craigslist. I found a slim PS2 in my city for only $40, and it works just fine. The only downside to this option is that sometimes the console could be faulty. If you don't want to take this action, I would suggest just getting the PS2 from Gamestop. There are alot of good, quality games for the PS2-- Although it may not be up to speed with this generation's graphics and high definition. The fact that games for the PS2 are still being released, even now, says alot.

Most definitely the ps2 is worth buying if you don't want to spend $200 and over for a 360. The ps2 has a great big huge selection of games. And if you get one get the gta game bundle (the one that features gta III, GTA vice city, and GTA San Andreas) for your first games. That will go for about $30.

PS2 is now cheaper and itis also an alternative consoles for who are hate next-gen consoles because the next-gen consoles are pricey. Yet, there are new games that will be on sale. So, if you didn't have a PS2, go get it from the console stores.

Um the ps2 had the most top notch games of that generation, some would like to argue that but simply look at the games the ps2 had and the scores compared to the other consoles.

Im still playing my PS2 because I cant afford the PS3 and I go online and look at game reviews and there are still alot

of hidden gems on the PS2. I know that when the PS2 first came out everyone was on the lead titles but the other titles got overlooked.

I know I over-looked alot of titles and now Im going back and writing them down and finding them in stores like Gamestop under 10bucks.

I have a list a games to get and until Sony comes down on the price of the PS3 Im not shaking. Im sticking with the PS2 because there

are more games to play and if you have a HDTV get the HD cables around $20 at Bestbuy. Your gaming experience will be even more enhanced.

I've been renting a PS3 from a Rent-A-Center and couldn't afford the $40 wkly payments so I took it back the other day. So I traded in some PS3 games that I had bought during that time and got me one of the new $99 slim PS2's a silver one. This is probly the 5-6 different PS2 I've had since the day of its release, due to me constantly doing trades. I'm actually happier with my new PS2 than I was with the PS3, cuz they're are tons of games to play. There are alot of I've already played, but they are so good playing them again rocks! Especially God of War 1 & 2, Black, Resident Evil 4. I never got to play Shadow of the Colossus, so I picked that one up. I really think you should get a PS2. You said you have $140 credit, you can get the PS2 for $99, no taxes using credit. So that'll leave you with $41. I'd add a few bucks with the $41 and definetly get God of War 1 & 2, Resident Evil 4, or Shadow of the Colossus. I'd tell you to get them all but you need variety so pick up 1-2 of them and maybe Black, or Burnout Takedown/Revenge, Midnight Club Dub Edition Remix, Need for Speed Most Wanted, or Tekken 5, Mortal Kombat Armageddon (all 60+ fighters ever on MK). One game I got that no one talks about much is Test Drive Eve of Destruction, it's a destruction derby type game and it's a blast to play. I got it for less than $10! I'd recommend getting one action game, one racing game, and one fighting game, and if you have extra $ maybe a shooter.

I only just bought a PS2 for the first time back in November 2008 and have a small library of 10 games for it. I was deciding between the PS2 and PS3, but in the end decided to go with a PS2 because of the low price tag and huge library of games. Plus also, for me to buy a PS3 with added warranty, HDMI cable and extra controller makes it kind of expensive. Although I must admit that I probably would have come up with the extra cash if PS2 backwards compatibility was still part ofthe current PS3 models.

A few months after my purchase of the PS2, I have to say that I probably should have skipped it altogether and just gone with the next gen. The PS3 has a lot of good games out for it now, plus I also have a 42" 1080p plasma TV that it would have looked really good on. Plus the idea of having Blu-Ray movies would surely be a treat too. If I know me, I will probably buy one sometime this year. That's not to say I necessarily regret my PS2 purchase, the graphics do look pretty bad on an HDTV, but I have already played some very decent games on it such as Black and Medal of Honor Vanguard. I also just picked up Call of Duty World At War Final Fronts and look forward to it. Also, I've been able to re-live some childhood memories by buying Pinball Hall of Fame - The Williams Collection. Two of the included tables, Black Knight and Gorgar, are games I played in the arcade years ago.

So it's not all bad by any stretch, I'm just saying that if I could turn back time, I would have just gone with the PS3. But for someone who just has a GC and wants to broaden their gaming horizons at a good price, the PS2 will certainly fit the bill. I am scared of the Xbox 360 at any price because of the RRoD and E74 errors. My original Xbox (Holiday 2004 edition) is still going strong 4 1/2 years after my purchase. That thing was built like a tank.
