I'm planning to buy 4k soon: sony 49xe7005baep
Any idea how 720p PS3 games would look?
720p will be made of 3x3 chunks of pixel content in 3840x2160 in case you have the interpolation set to none. Otherwise, it will depend on the built in scaler of your Ultra HDTV, but you had better leave upscaled 1080p to the console before scaling with or without interpolation.
When I hook my PS3 up to my smaller TV downstairs (seriously, that thing is the size of a Pop-Tart, even if it is flat-screen), the picture looks alright in 720p. Very crisp. Now, when I connect it to my giant TV upstairs, it looks pretty ehhhh. Sometimes you can see the individual pixels from 15 feet away. There's more pixel "slots" to fill, and 720p only has so many, so they're just larger.
Bigger is not always better. :)
I played xbox 360 on a 18 inch 720p tv for almost 9 years. (until 2016 summer then I got one s)
Games looked very nice and detailed and some games were simply amazing.
Connected to bigger tv and to 1080p tvs to try and it gets worse. why? 1080p upscaled from 720p goes down in quality. big tv makes it even worse.
Id recommend small tvs with older machines. And also resolution of said tv to be as close as possible of your gaming machine native resolution as close as possible.
