Question about GTA III cover art

Hey guys. I've had a copy of GTA3 for a while now, and the cover art on my GTA3 was a bit different from the ones you usually see advertised in game stores. Here it is:

I was wondering if anyone knows why it is different from the other GTA3 game covers.

Different countries have different art. That's the Australian art. There's also:

US:

UK:

Germany:

I think the US art ended up being adopted as standard.

No, it's a Euro game. I just noticed that the newer GTA3 versions have the Rockstar North logo, but this one has the old DMA logo.

Any other ideas as to the origin of this cover would be welcome.
