1. Nothing will probably scare you except the regenerators may creep you out, look em up on youtube.
2. Control scheme takes a little getting use to unless you have already played RE games.
3. Game has pretty moderate difficulty, not much is too hard.
4.Ammo is pretty abundent until the last few areas ammo is a little scarce, but you can manage.
You'll be fine dude... you seem mature, and there aren't very many genuine "scary" moments. It has a creepy atmosphere though.
And it's hard at first but it'll get easier as you get used to the controls/combat.
I rented it one weekend back in 2005 and it was one of the best gaming weekends of my life. I later bought RE4 for $29.99 as a greatest hits for the Gamecube and I wish I would have played full-price for it.
As for it being scary... there are afew parts where I was freaked out on my first play-through
I've played this game 5 times over. Once you get a hang of the game you'll feel unstoppable. You could maybe check out some other stuff in the RE series, its all completley different from RE4 though. Might wanna look i up and see if youd like them.
RE4 is not scary at all..tense at times, but not scary enough to make you have nightmares or turn off your console.
once you beat it you'll want to play it over again. I'm going on my second run through with the Blacktail, first run was a Red9.
basically, get RE4, and God of War 1 and 2, and you're set for the summer.
oh Deception most definitely. Armageddon was meh.
those are the different types of guns you can use BTW. A kicka** merchant sells them to you.
Hmmmm. So you're saying he used a specific type of gun on the first playthrough, and he needs to playthrough again with a different one? Please explain. DarkR34p3r
Nah, you're not forced to use specific guns in playthroughs. There are several different handguns in the game (along with a couple choices with the other gun types), and it's really your choice on which one you use. Most people that end up replaying it a few times typically tries out using other weapons than before for a little variety since each variant has some different properties.
Edit: stupid glitch deletes my post text yet again...
I see. So you get to choose a permanant handgun?DarkR34p3r
Actually, you don't even have to use a handgun. I just went through a playthrough with using the TMP (think something along the lines of a sub-machine gun) instead of a handgun. The game gives you a few choices among the different weapon types, and you can carry any number of weapons as long as you have space in your briefcase (it's a gridded system where every item, ammo, and weapon occupies a set number of blocks).
I've seen the briefcase. So, you can choose a primary weapon to use and ammo would be abundant for that weapon? I'm alittle confused. Or is ammo abundant/moderate for any weapon?DarkR34p3r
You can have a single weapon equipped at one time, but you can carry however much you want (as long as it fits in your case). You have to go into your case and switch weapons. If you felt inclined, you could carry every single one of the handguns in your briefcase. I know whenever I play through the game, by mid-game I'm usually carrying a handgun, a shotgun, a rifle, and a magnum. Each of the guns has different uses in situations. Your pistol is the most commonly used one, but it doesn't quite have crowd control like a shotgun can.
As for how much ammo there is, it depends on the weapon. Handgun and TMP ammo is more moderately available than say magnum ammo, but it's not like there's enough for you to waste 10-15 shots on a single enemy all the time. In general, the more powerful the weapon, the less ammo you'll probably find for it.
How about the quicktime events? (Like when someones about to cut you and it tells you to quickly press a button command) Are the out of no where? or you expect them when they're about to hit. and you don't press different commands everytime right? (Like one scene you dodge with square+X, then another you dodge with triangle+circle)DarkR34p3r
Some can be kind of out of nowhere, but those ones usually give you ample amount of time to get the button press in. There are only L1+R1 and square+X combined button presses, and occassionally a sequence where you have to mash either square or X quickly (like to run away from a rolling boulder). So you don't have to worry about failing a sequence because you didn't hit X in time, then fail the second time because it was triangle, and again the third time because it was square instead.
The only thing else I can say is just don't put the controller down during cutscenes.
ALRIGHT! Just came back and I got Mortal Kombat Deception AND Armageddon, and Resident Evil 4. Yeah, the controls are going to need alittle getting used to... x to shoot? gah, I'm going to forget how to play FPS's after I'm done with this. Well, for $44 would you think it was a good deal?DarkR34p3r
Not a terrible deal but I wouldn't of gotten Mortal Kombat since I'm not a fan of the newer games.
Have fun with Resident Evil 4 and one word of advice, "Shoot into the lake at the fish"
I own MK Armaggeddon and its good too.
Alright, I'm just gonna lay it down.
You need to stop asking questions and buy the freaking game already.
The critics love it, the fans love it, everyone loves it, freaking buy it!
If you want a scary resident evil game, play the first one.
RE 4 may spook you a little, but its not really a resident evil game, and its not scary.

If you hadn't noticed through the replies in the thread, the TC has already purchased the game...

He pretty much nailed it. There is only 1 scary enemy, the game is very easy, and lots of ammo- this is an action shooter, not a survival horror.
If you want something scary, play the originals- especially RE1.

ThanksWell, the 'oven man' really isn't an official name from Capcom. It's a name given to this one enemy in the game by the players because... well, you'll see...
The Regenerators are an official name in the game though. They're named such because they actually regenerate body parts you may have shot off.
