Why don't you just play the game instead of asking a bunch of questions? If you really have a problem go get a guide online.Lynx777Because I don't play games all in one playthrough, since I do have other things to do. I also want to interact with people rather than just read about it. I find individual opinions better than one professional. Hey, should I buy the TMP the first time I see the merchant? I have a shotgun and my pistol. I saved right before I see him, so should I get it?

Honestly, I'd rather buy the rifle from the merchant. The rifle will be much more useful for you throughout the game since they're just as powerful as a shotgun but effective even at long range. Upgrading them also leads to them being even more powerful.
You can try the TMP out if you want, but it's IMO only really effective as a backup pistol-type weapon. I say that because if you take single shots with it to target body parts (like legs to put an enemy on their knees to set up for kicks/suplexes), it will last you a while with it's larger clips and larger ammo bundles. Ammo for it is almost as readily available as pistol ammo. However, it's not very effective as crowd control since it doesn't have any knockback like a shotgun and will burn ammo really quick. It's also not effective as a replacement for the pistol (except if you use it exclusively for setups as noted above) since it's much weaker than the default pistol, and even at max upgrade it's firepower is only 1.6-1.8
Hmmm, I see, so I should get it later? I think I wanna upgrade my attache case first, so what do I buy to upgrade it? I appreciate you coming back to this thread to help/comment.DarkR34p3r
To upgrade your case, you have to buy the corresponding 'attache case' from the merchant. There's a Attache Case M, Attache Case L, and Attache Case XL available during the course of the game. I think the merchant should have a Case M right now. Btw, if you didn't know, this doesn't mean you have an extra case to put stuff in; it just extends the size of your current case (in a way, Leon is basically throwing out the old case and replacing it with the new one... what a waste...).
It's no problem. I don't mind talking about RE4 considering I've played through the game well over a dozen times. It's one of my favorite games.
