@Starshine_M2A2: Nope but I have a close friend who hates GTA series as well, word of advice - don't play Rockstart games at all.
Do you find Mafia or Mafia 2 a good games?

Are you playing it on pc? and if so, a patch should fix all the bugs. i personally think RDR is the best open world sandbox that exists, and the story is more about him saving his family from the goverment than personal vendetta, and as for controls yes they sometimes suck but if you dont like it you can walk lol i love this game, more so than gta5 and i think rdr is brilliant, it takes getting used to but free roaming is the games shining point.
I'd agree with iffy horse controls although an hour into the game it became pretty natural. Other than that, I don't understand or believe any oft he complaints. This is a full on troll.
I remember when this came out close to when I graduated high school. I played the hell out of it and pretty much loved how authentic it felt from the western soundtrack to the lonely, empty world. It is exactly like when I watch a Sergio Leone spaghetti western.
Back in college, I remember playing the online to level up. But the only way I knew how to do that was to do the same hideout location over and over and over again. I tried all the other hideout locations and they gave me a decent amount of XP, but not nearly as much as Tesoru Azul given how fast you can complete it, how small the hideout is compared to others, and how many enemies there are. I got so burned out playing the multiplayer because this one hideout was all I did after playing through all the other multiplayer modes and hideouts at least once and hating how slow it all was.
I loaded the game up again on my PS3 just this summer and played through the whole game again and Undead Nightmare. It still is as fun as I remembered. The only issue I have always had with this game are the cattle herding part SUCKS ASS. So frustrating, and it is such a bottleneck to an otherwise great game. Sure the story is not amazing, but no western has an amazingly rich story. They are usually revenge tales or going for the gold/fistful of dollars. It really didn't matter for this game because it hit all of the western notes.
Well, to each his own. Maybe RDR2 will change your mind. I just hope the cattle herding missions are gone and the online does not clobber the SP experience like GTAV did by caring more about the multiplayer and putting more effort into that.
Obviously there is no game that is worse than this game.... :| Do people think before creating threads these days? Its one thing to say "I didn't enjoy this game". Its another to claim its the worse game ever, that is a factually incorrect statement independent of your opinion.
I find this thread horrifying. It's one of my favorite games of all time. I did not find it to be buggy at all. And I enjoyed the story quite a bit.
You are not alone.
Problem is the same with Half-life and other older games, they forget that you cannot put a game up against current releases. Since games and tech evolve.
RDR may have it´s bugs but it´s still one hell of a game and much better then 90% of the shit that comes out today.
In 2010 there were two types of gamers, ones that thought Mass Effect 2 was the messiah, and the others that thought RDR1 was. I am guessing the OP spent a little time in Mass Effect2, that wacky, silly, generic space game(as far as I am concerned, ME2 was just a bad sequel to Space Jam).

o...k....
I looked this game up after hearing a out how great 2 was...ive never hated a game so much in my life. With each passing second this game reaches new depths of irritating crap-ass garbage. From the lack of plot to the endless droning dialogue to the bs targeting to the pointless missions to the brutal save system and terrible anti-climactic ending which brings you back to hunting and then the constant replaying cut scenes that you cant skip over...i nearly smashed my xbox on more than one occasion. Its AMAZING how they took a brilliant concept and whittled away all the goodness out of it until youre left with basically the worst GTA ever. 1 out 10.
Lol. You should have done what I did and stop after the first 10-20 minutes and go watch a YT video about the story.
I never played it when it came out. Didn't play Revolver either.
Not really playable by (my own) modern standards now. I just don't have the nostalgia required to tolerate it I guess.
It would be cool if they release DLC for RDR2 that lets you play the old campaigns.
