My console has recently been diagnosed with a terminally ill disease and is slowly and painfully dying. Whenever I am playing a game it will freeze up. It began to happen after about 15 to 20 min. of gameplay but now occurs after about 5 min. The xbox doesn't just freeze up but the screen flashes and makes a strage noise and the screen displays all of these strange colors. I checked the TV connection and it's not that. Also, I tried contacting xbox support but they reccommended me sending it in to be repaired for about 100$. My warranty has recently expired. Also, when it got really bad, when I turned it on it flashed with the red rings but now they are not there anymore but the console still freezes. I've tried everything and need to send it in. Will they repair it for free if it got the red rings but no longer does?
They will repair it for free if it has RROD for three years from when you originally purchased it. After your warranty runs out you'll have to pay them to fix it.
