I dunno how to thesis statement this thread so I'll get right to the point.

I met Akira Yamaoka a couple years ago (great guy, made a total ass of myself thinking he doesn't speak English lol) and he signed my Silent Hill 2 PS2 disc. I have the black label box and manual with it in very good condition and I believe it'll be valuable over time. Part of me wants to always keep it and part of me can't wait for it to skyrocket in value so that I sell it off. Do you face similar dilllemas as a collector? Do you think I have a valuable piece of video game history in my possession?

The problem with signed stuff is legitimacy. A lot of people are copying signatures and then selling them off as signed. Hence why the likes of signed stuff on eBay doesn't go for a dime more.obenns

Oh I'm not in a hurry to sell it anytime soon. Nor am I thinking about eBay specifically. I just wanted to start a discussion on this kinda thing for the most part.

Why would you think his autograph will drasticly increase the value of the game ?

There are always some collectors who would pay more but I don't expect them to be in large numbers.

I'm pretty sure it does increase the value, even if only by a little. I remember a few years ago a copy of Shenmue was put on Ebay and it was signed by Yu Suzuki. It ended up selling for like $150 which is way more than what a copy of Shenmue regularly goes for.

When it comes to memorabilia, the only thing I really own is this:

And I'm in no hurry to sell it, mostly because it isn't worth anything.
