Let's see.
Baldur's Gate 2 is my favorite game of all time. Bioware were the gods back then.
However, I have mixed feelings about NWN. The multiplayer, the DM client, the toolset, all that is plain amazing and have turned it into a truly unique game.
The singleplayer however, was sadly lacking, IMO.
KOTOR is certainly one of the most overrated games ever. 80% of the game came straight out of the NWN campaign. How bad a developer are you if you basically copy half a game and just put some new flavor on it? A bad one. What kind of developer carbon copies their most important character without even trying to cover it up? The worst.
After playing KOTOR, my respect for Bioware was completely gone.
It's like they thought they could just get away with it, as NWN SP was never that well liked and quite unknown. Doesn't that come down to insulting your own game? What kind of a developer does that?
Jade Empire was pretty stale, IMO. It was all far too obvious and familiar. It wasn't as bad as KOTOR where I basically knew every quest and puzzles because I did them all before in NWN, but still.
ME, I can't even play because it's too buggy.
Morrowind...god I played this game a lot, I still remember it fondly. I recall how excited me and a mate were the week before Oblivion would be released.
Damn, was it a let down. It basically took all the wrongs from Morrowind and corrected them, but in the process raped everything that was awesome about it's predecessor.
I hated Fallout 3 before I played it, because I felt they weren't doing any justice to the setting. While I still think this is true, I'm glad to say that Fallout 3 is a lot better then Oblivion. Sadly I can't really play it due to bugs.....
Basically I have things I hate and love about both.
But Bioware still demands my respect because of BG. And I feel they still might be able to amaze me with Dragon Age.
