They've been trying too hard since the SR3.
Saints Row is a series that's not supposed to be taken seriously at all and that's what I love about the series, even more than GTA. If you want a more serious, dramatic storyline, go to GTA. But Saints Row just ain't that anymore and I'm glad they chose to be funny than serious. Only time when it happened was in the first game.

I get that, but there is "funny" and there is funny, GTA has far better humour imo.[QUOTE="Pffrbt"]

Saints Row 2 had a better mix of ridiculous and serious. This is just trying to hard. Some pacing and restraint goes a long way in making the ridiculous stand out. Actually being creative and somewhat intelligent helps too.

I totally agree with you. Obvious humour is obvious and not really that funny.[QUOTE="Pffrbt"]

Yeah, but this one looks to be trying way too hard to be funny. Mind you, I don't mean it should be serious, but this is basically saying "Look how crazy we are!" and it comes off desperate rather than funny. It's the difference between Airplane and any modern spoof film.
Still, I liked Saints Row The Third and hopefully this will have the same female voice actress (the American accented one) because that girl's comedic timing was golden. It has potential, sure, but the trailers have done absolute nothing for me other than guarantee I'll pick it up when cheaper.
Perhaps they may be going a bit overboard with trying to be too funny, I'll give you guys that. But at this point, I honestly don't care. Saints Row has always been about the gameplay and how fun it is; who cares in the end as long as the game itself is fun to play? My copy is already pre-ordered and awaiting purchase once it comes out on the 20th, so I think I'll be set for awhile.

Yeah, I will be. I already have my copy pre-ordered.
I'll wait about a year after the game comes out to get it. Then the rest of the cut content will be back in.

Probably won't happen. If anything, they'll get a season pass out, I'll buy all the DLC for it right away. If they do that, why even bother when I got all the new content already?
When the reveal trailer came out months ago, I was sceptical. Now they've actually put some flesh on the bones of the setting (I hesitate to say 'plot'), it doesn't look anywhere as dumb.
It still looks utterly barking, but now in more of a good way. But £36, even with a 10% discount?!?!

They did it for SR3.
