hello, ive just started playing DEAD SPACE ( which may i saylooks outstanding on my 2 x gtx 275's) and i must say its the most intense and probably the scariest game ive ever played. i though DOOM 3 was pretty great and FEAR even had my grabbing for the toilet roll but DEAD SPACE on comparison just dont compare, its on a completly different level. i love the game but can only plan from one save station to the next! CRAPPING MY AS OFF (CMAO) , lol.

it has to be my number 1 but whats yours??

My favorite would have to be Silent Hill 2. It was very subtle, it got under your skin and messed with your head. And it has some of the best storytelling of any video game ever.

Silent Hill 1 and the REmake. I have noticed plenty of people saying Dead Space was scary, but I thought it was average in terms of scares.

Nothing has even come close to scaring me. I don't play many scary games, so I guess I will just say Resident Evil 4, even though it didn't even make me jump once, it was still better than the cheap "scares" offered in FEAR.

Ah...I don't have one. The only "scary" games I've played are the Resident Evil games and Doom 3. I haven't gotten to play Silent Hill games or Fatal Frame.

I used to smoke massive bowls while playing Condemned 1 and 2 in the middle of the night in complete darkness. Honestly, there were times I got so tensed up, scared, and in that nightmareish "can't wake up" fear that I just straight up would stop playing.

Dead Space is a pretty good game in itself, could offer moments of intense atmosphere that would provide the player with a few jumps. Always did appretiate the 'scary' element of the Silent Hill games though.

Dead Space? Doom 3? F.E.A.R.? Those aren't scary games. I'm not saying this to make people think I'm courajous. On the contrary, I'm very sensible to horror games, that's why I love the genre. You should play Silent Hill series, Alone in the Dark Trilogy, Penumbra Trilogy, Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth, Pathologic, Scratches and a free indie game series called The Chzo Mythos (5 Days a Stranger, 6 Days a Sacrifice, 7 Days a Skeptic and Trilby's Notes) :D

Dude, you read my mind. I just ended a Dead Space session and was on my way here to make this exact topic. Dead Space is freaking scary. And I played
"scary" games -Doom 3, Bioshock, FEAR, Condemned, RE4, Call of Cthulhu (or however you spell it),- nothing comes close. Nothing. And it's not just the BOO-factor or the extremely creepy athmosphere (which is great, btw - that "twinkle twinkle little star"... f'ing amazing). It's that the game is so freaking.. I dunno.. Scary. Can't decribe it any better. The whole game - you're worried you don't have ANY ammo or healthkits, you're thinking the alien zombie guy is gonna jump out from the next corner, when you're fighting you're thinking you don't have a chance - you're just an engineer, for f'ks sake.... Nerve-wrecking. And the "survivors" you find along the way.....

Eternal Darkness. Lol-worthy moments everywhere in that game. Atmosphere I have yet to see surpassed on a system.

love scary games. have dead space, condemned 2, but my 3 fav scary games that i have are - silent hill 2 (PS2), Fatal Frame 3 (Wii) and Siren:New Translation PS3 (japanese version - its not censored). I just think japanese horror themes are scarier.

same here.

I thought Code Veronica was one of the Resident Evil games that wasn't creepy at all. On topic, I think I'll have to go with REmake. That game made me fear walking corridors. But I haven't played Silent Hill or Fatal Frame, so I can't really give my opinion on those two, even though people all around tell me those are the SCARIEST games around.

are you serious? Condemned & Cthulhu are miles scarier then Dead Space. Dead Space didn't have one scary moment.

Thief 3 in itself was not super scary, but there is one level that was very creepy. It was the level that was the abandoned building that used to be an insane asylum as well as an orphanage. Anyone who played that level knows what I'm talking about.
