Sequels Which Actually Have Worse Graphics than the original

The only example I can think of is Supreme Commander 2 which has worse graphics than SC1. Can you think of other examples

When i say sequel I mean that it was released after the original preceding releases. Not like Halo Combat Evolved is a Sequel to Reach.

Metroid 2

Bioshock 2 compared to 1 (PC versions). The textures are so blurry in the second game. It looks considerably worse. STALKER: CoP also comes to mind. The scale of each level was expanded, so there was less room for detail.

Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Crysis 2 imo

Battle Arena Toshinden 2 & 3 looked many times worse than the original game, which I still love. And I really wish Playstation Store would hurry up and get the game or I'm going to have to track it down again. Crysis 2 from what I've seen so far doesn't look quite as good as the original, but then again, it's an unfinished product, and mileage may vary on the PC version depending on your setup.

DOA Xtreme 2 ran at only half the framerate as the first one.:(

Silent Hill 3 looked far and away better than SH4: The Room. Though most SH fans don't consider The Room to be a true SH game so I digress.

The remake of Resident Evil on the Gamecube was much more graphically impressive than Resident Evil Zero as well. Probably because RE0 was originally supposed to be a N64 game. It used the same engine as the remake but the animations weren't as good, and the detail of the environments and character models weren't nearly as sharp.

I nominate Unreal Tournament 3.

Compared to the previous titles the colors were washed out. It looked like everything was mixed with browns and greys.

The biggest reason was the stability of the game on release. I figure this has a lot to do with Epics foolish insistance on using HD graphics. It lead to more complex title which broke easier and had less gameplay material.

Despite the sharper resolution, the use of HD graphics lead to thegame looking worse andran worse then any Unreal title before it.

The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass.

They weren't bad in themselves but I was not a fan of the graphics in Dino Crisis 2. The first game had shown that the PlayStation could make a decent fist of real time backgrounds and the shift to pre-rendered for the sequel just felt like a step backwards.

I always thought Halo: CE looked better than any of its sequels, including reach.
