Shadow of the Colosuss is better than any movie or book I've ever come across.

I just finished it and yeah.... games like these should bepraised as artistic masterpieces by everyone -- not just gamers.

Just an opinion, but my eyes were extremely watery for the last few parts of the game, and no piece of litereature or film has ever done that to me.

Games like this are never going to receive praise from non-gamers. You have to sit down and play a game to see its greatness. Once you do that, you're a "gamer".

I do have to say that the ending of SotC was brilliant in every conceivable manner. The game's story as a whole was very simple, but told perfectly. This game is the closest gaming equivalent to the short story. It's one of the few gaming stories which I think is complete; adding more character development, dialogue, twists, whatever, would actually make it worse and drag it.

I feel the same way about Final Fantasy X. Shadow of the Colossus is a really great game and I do agree with what you said, it just reminds me of FFX.

Everyone loves this game, but I have to say that I thought it was rather boring. A bunch of generally easy but long boss battles doesn't cut it for me I guess, and if that game was in movie form it would have been about 30 minutes long instead of however long it takes to play through it.

I can tell you were extremely moved by SoTC, and that's incredibly cool. I never finished it (shame), but the 3/4 I played too effected my emotions in ways other games hadn't, and possibly never will. Scary thing is, it did so with very few spoken words of narrative.

While Shadow of the Colossus is certainly a masterpiece, I still think you're reading the wrong books and watching the wrong movies :P

I thought the word "unquestionable" has a bad connotation in it.

I agree. I love both videogames because of their high artistic appeal.

I enjoyed Shadow of Colosuss for its departure from the norm. It was able to capture the isolation of the amin character and take you to a entirely new world. But as good as the game is, its nowhere near the epic nature of some of the movies I have watch.

The camera drove me so much into hating the game after killing me countless times I gave up on it.

That's pretty much what I took away from it too. Ico was far a far superior game in just about every way. I wish they would have just done another game like that.

Wrong. They're technically the same except that one focuses more on action and one on adventure.

I like shadow of the colossus more because the battles were immersive.

have to say such a beautiful and amazing game. i loved it, i do think its better then any book, and as for a movie, i say it beats most movies just as it has come across.

I love the idea that my opinion can be "wrong."

They're technically the same except that I enjoyed one and the other felt like a chore that after a while I was only playing through because of how great everyone said it was. Most of the bosses (i.e. the only "game" there actually is in the game) were entirely easy, and as for the few that weren't, it was generally because the way to climb their fur and stab them in the weak point yet again was hilariously obscure.

You can put lipstick on a pig but at the end of the day it's still a pig. :P

Maybe not a movie or book. SotC is more like a painting come to life, kind of like if you see a huge painting at a museum and it has a portal where you can walk into that world and experience it rather than just seeing it.

Movies and books are different from games. And SotC, although a game, is also different from normal games. It's unique. And yes it's a masterpiece, and yes Fumito Ueda is a genius...but it's still too different to compare with other games or movies and books.

SotC is great...but it's no Godfather or Schindler's List, nor Shakespeare or Hemingway.

:P I like both games but the combat in SOTC was better. Fighting those demons with a stick was kinda annoying. Anyways, they're both the same really.... they're even set in the same universe only Ico is minimal compared to shadow of the colossus. If you thought SOTC was easy, try beating the game on HTA mode. Good luck beating the 3rd colossi in under 5 minutes.

Well, I don't think the combat was the strong suit of either game, and considering that is the only actual gameplay in SOTC besides riding around on a horse....well, yeah...

Well remember everyone, no one's opinion is better than the other. He really loved this game, it moved him, so be it. I respect his passion for the game. I'm sure there are people out there who think Rush Hour is the greatest movie ever made. Do I agree? Nope, good for them.

I think Shadow of The Colossus, Okami, and Bioshock are the best, and most artistic games I've played in years.

Sadly, I still don't own Shadow of the Colossus -- it's next up on my catch-up list. But it's in stock on Best Buy, I think, so I really have no reason not to get it. And I got Hotel Dusk, which I've been wanting for ages, so I'd say I'm in a good state of mind to finally get SotC.
