Get it.
You don't need to buy batteries any more
The design makes it extremely portable
I like the L and R buttons more
The screen is so much better
I do like the layout of the first GBA though
The main reasons I woud get an SP is for the fact that you don't need to buy batteries, and the screen is backlit
If you have rechargeables and a back lit screen (which can be done but you might screw up your old GBA) I don't really see a point in getting the SP; especially since the backlight you can get for your GBA is much brighter
yeah sure why not.
the SP has a backlight built in and the battery is rechargable. so those are 2 improvements over the standard gba. and its smaller than a DS.
also u can find plenty of cheap games at Gamestop for the gba sp.
so if u can find a GBA SP for less than $50 used, go for it. just be sure to get a headphone adapter. it doesnt have a standard jack for headphones. and the speaker is very weak.
and if you have old gameboy games, u can play them on the GBA SP. so thats another plus.
IMO i would have to say goto DS i mean SP lol just cause its it doesnt take batts unless you like having battereies around wen your thing dies but i like the old gba too cause i didnt need to go home for a recharge but SP is alot better and more portable
so lastly ,,,get a SP if you dont have a DS
Get a DS its much better and you can play SP games on it and you can get a used one thats not the lite for $79 at gamestop.nVidiaGaMer
you obviously didnt read the posts good enough he says he has a ds and he wants a sp so he can play with friends at home so he can trade pokemon or go head to head on mortal kombat
he also says he cant transfer with a ds
and an sp is worth it because it can play all gameboy games
sp ds
ds is just sp upside down
Eh, I'd save up for a DS but if you think it will take too long then buy a sp, the only advantage of having an sp is the lighted screen and its rechargeable.ConkerAndBerri2
He already has a DS. Read the original post.
Go ahead and get one. SP's have so many more features such as:
Rechargeable batteries (these save so much $$$)
Brighter screen (so you can play it in more areas)
Folding screen (Makes it really small and can easy fit into pockets)
But when you do this I suggest trading in your old GBA to get some extra bucks.
Meh,
I would say so. It still has/had a decent library of games. If you can trade in anything to off-set it then I would say go ahead. Just don't get silver. Be different ;).
If you have many GBA games, then you should get GBA SP. I bought third GBA SP for $40 new from Circuit City store, three months ago as it was last ones. Several video game stores may sell used GBA SPs for $40 to $80, depend on what edition.
I own many GBA games. I play both GBA SP, and DS. I love both.
Of course! I'll try to get Onyx. But it's not really my choice since I'm buying it used from GameStop, what colors they have is what I get.Meh,

Depends on you if it's worth it or not.
If you're going to play a lot of multiplayer or GBC games then yes. But if not, then well you already have a DS so you don't need it.
[QUOTE="DarkR34p3r"]Alright guys, thanks for the help. I'm absolutely going to buy one now. Hope they have good colors in stock when I go tomorrow. :)krunkfu2
I like the NES edition; it looks pretty cool
You have a nice thumb nail.
What about the gameboy micro? Isn't that supposed to be the upgrade from the SP?Mike1978Smith
It can't play game boy colour or the original game boy games, i have one.
I am also thinking about gettin a sp, I have a gba and gameboyplayer on my gamecube. I never play my gba games on my gba because it strains my eyes with having no light. I am a little confused though. Is there 2 versions of gba sp? and do they both have lights on the screen??lazyhoboguyYes there's the original, and one with a backlit LCD screen. The original has a light being projected over the screen while the backlit LCD screen is being projected from the back of the screen. I'd suggest try to get the newer backlit one, it seems a lot brighter than the original. I've seen the original too, it's okay lighting but its being projected from the bottom of the screen.
No, the problem isn't holding it, it's just too small for my comfort. Also I believe in the "flatter" or "smaller" a product is, the more fragile. Plus, my super muscular(SP?) button mashing hands would probably break the thing... (end sacrasm)DarkR34p3r
Actually the Micro is a beast when it comes to being durable...for how small it is anyway. Although it doesn't flip closed, so the screen isn't protected. But that's why it comes with extra faceplates and a soft carrying pouch.
And believe it or not, I can hold the Micro "comfortably"
the SP is the best game boy ever.
yes it's worth 50 bucks.
EDIT: please don't get a micro. the screen size is comparable to the original ipod mini. it's terrible.
