I'll say this, from a fan of Dragon Age. The first game was fantastic in its story, presentation, characters, and overall feel, though the combat felt very PC oriented in that it was more tactics based than anything. Dragon Age 2 had a much weaker story and the level design was way too repetitive, but the combat was very fast-paced like a hack-n-slash, as well as having a more streamlined menu. Dragon Age: Inquisition looks to mix the two gameplay styles together as well as making it bigger and better than before. So I say get it.

Bioware has been inconsistent for a while now. Why not just wait for reviews?

Yeah it is really strange, 7-8 yers ago I would have been thrilled to hear about a new bioware RPG, but this I am slightly Iffy on.

Don't get me wrong DA:O is a very good game (one you should get if you have a passing interrest, it can often be had really cheap).

DA2 however wa in alot of ways a trainwreck. Like someone else stated Bioware have been mighty inconsistant for a while.

What we have seen from DA: I looks pretty nice a degree of both the prior games in it, so it might be good, and it might be a mismatch of gameplay elements and mechanics. I would personally wait till the review jury is out for the game, and perhaps get the first one, just to see if the universe appeals to you.

I'd recommend it. I loved both the first and the second Dragon Age games. The only problem I had with DA2 was the repetitive level design, probably because the game was rushed a bit. I don't think that Inquisition will suffer from this.

I think all those who are ragging on BioWare should be aware of their publisher, EA, who has a reputation for rushing their devs and games. You're all forgetting how much weight a publisher has in a game's production.

Bioware were chasing after the casual console market long before they signed on with EA.

Compared to their previous PC games, KOTOR was a very simplified My First RPG (albeit one with great production values) that started off as a console-exclusive title. KOTOR's colossal success was the start of their downward trend, independent of EA. Their next game was an action-heavy console-exclusive RPG (Jade Empire), then they went after the Halo market by making a console-exclusive lite-RPG/lite-shooter hybrid (Mass Effect), and so on.

The only bump in the trend was Dragon Age Origins - and I suspect that was only slightly more complex because it was originally supposed to be one of their old-style PC games, and had simply been in development hell since KOTOR.

So...uh, no. Let's not blame EA for everything. EA may have been responsible for the DLC and whatnot, but Bioware mostly did this to themselves.

I don't understand what exactly bioware did to themselves ? I think they always made great games , as i hear their worst game in dragon age 2 which is still not bad . Mass effect trilogy and KOTOR were amazing for sci fi fans like me .

I can see there is a lot of hate towards EA and such , but Bioware always made amazing games . I think gamers just love to hate on things ....

If you think it looks fun and interesting to play, then who gives a damn what others say.

They have their cup of tea and you have yours.

If you enjoy these casual action titles, a proper RPG like Planescape Torement will blow your mind.

@ShepardCommandr: when they added multiplay the game was finished. Why correct content or add content they just want you to play online.

Since you like fantasy RPGs, I think you'll thoroughly enjoy Inquisition. They seem to be incorporating a lot of the qualities that made Dragon Age: Origins a fantastic game.

@kingcrimson24: for background, as an elder scrolls lover, i like newvegas, mass1 and kotor2. i'll play them over fallout3, mass2 or kotor1 everyday. i hate the stupification of rpg's.

i've had da:origins for months now and still haven't played it due to bioware's idiocy. i bargain-bought thewitcher2 (kids go back to school soon, lol) and can't wait to continue playing it.

what am i yappin about? never buy at full price. always buy at bargain price.

You should purchase DA: O first, and play through all the games like the mass effect series. DA:O is a great game, and if you don't mind going back to 2009 graphic, and games you will love it. The second one had a weaker story, and copy, and paste caves, and warehouse, but the character development is good, and companion development, and the fighting is updated to more of a hack n slash, instead of a PC/WOW version. A Lot of the hate from gamers was because EA took over, and the game was obviously rushed, but if you loved Mass effect, and like what bioware does than def play all 3. I recommend playing the first two, first so you know what your getting into. DA:2 i pre ordered, and hated it, but just recently played through for DA:I and enjoyed it very much, it lacks what the first game gave you, but still fun. I can't wait for the third, and even know I'm skeptic cause 2 I think they are going the right path.
