[QUOTE="Ninety-2"]Halo 3 had groundbreaking features? Name them for me please...Dutch_Mix
For a console FPS, yeah, it did. Four player online-multiplayer, a theater mode that allows you to take screenshots/videos and upload them to your profile on Bungie, Forge, Bungie.net integration. Yeah.
[QUOTE="zabrak999"] If you look at the facts, Halo 3 had several groundbreaking features that it introduced to console gaming. Combine that with how they 'fixed' essentially all the flaws in the past halo games and added more gameplay elements to the game...It's ilke, if you had all this, wouldn't you think it'd STILL be the #1 shooter since it came out? If you compare a game like that to COD4..Which really doesn't try anything new at all, how the hell did COD4 on the 360 beat out Halo 3?

The penetration of rounds through various types of materials, which in turn alters the trajectory and sometimes even lessens the damage ratio, was a pretty innovative feature that radically changed the way I played MP.
I've got nothing against Halo 3 (I own it) but personally, I think the MP in COD4 was vastly superior. I certainly enjoyed it more because I found the gameplay far more balanced than Halo 3.
Oh, I'm going to have to disagree with you there (and I know we've gone down this road before) but I just don't understand how you can think CoD's gameplay is more balanced that Halo 3's.
For me, Call of Duty 4's online MP falls short of Halo 3 primarily because Call of Duty 4 has no real matchmaking service. Sure it matches you up with a game against other players, but it doesn't match you up with players of your own skill level. And in a game where having the best equipment so often determines the outcome of a fight, well, you can see how that presents a problem from a gameplay standpoint.
I still love Call of Duty 4, but I find it far too easy to succeed in. It's just not fair to get matched up with a bunch of amateurs while you're decked out with the best gear XP can buy. You know?
Fair enough. The matchmaking aspect is a big one for some people but when I talk of balance, I'm speaking of my own personal experiences, playing with people I know online. I don't like the weapons in Halo 3, I don't care for the recharging shields, and I personally find some of the weapons flat out annoying in regards to balance. In COD4 you can take anybody down with a couple of hits, which for me personally makes it a more even and skill-based experience.
Ultimately, I think it's a matter of preference.
