I would like to know what is your opinion on the Last generetion of systems.
Personally I thought it was great. It was alot more diverse and had many great games.
What do you all think?

In my opinion, the last generation of consoles was the worst i've lived through. I'm not saying it was bad at all, but just disapointing. Even though these consoles bought online gaming to the masses and spawned some trully classic games, I think i'll remember it most for containing the largest collection of unoriginal games yet. Many games felt so similar to others and some practically were the same.
I remember playing God of War and thinking, this just feels like Prince of Persia, but with a slightly bigger emphasis on fighting. That pretty much sums up the majority of games from the generation for me. A game is released. That game is copied, but the emphasis is changed slightly. Then that game is released. And so on. Examples include Spinter Cell & MGS, Star Wars Battlefront & Socom, True Crime & GTA, Black & Killzone, Jack & Daxter and Ratchet & Clank, and Prince of Persia & Tomb Raider as well as Prince of Persia & God of War.
I guess the biggest irony is that I actually enjoyed nearly all of these games...
The xbox was a disappointment (only games I really enjoyed are shenmue 2 and jade empire)
The GC had few games, but Metroid is simply the best FPS I've ever played. I also anjoyed baiten kaitos, and windwaker and of course RE4
The Ps2, well, I'm enjoying right now (Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, FFX, FFXII, Persona 4, Okami, Yakuza 2)
i only bought the xbox for halo and dead or alive beach vollyball. it's a meaty, chunky brick of a console with meaty, chunky games. i liked it. for a bit. then i sold it.
the gamecube had a lot of great action adventure titles, all very varied and interesting. it's always a sign of a good console when there is quality, and variety. however, people complain that it didn't any RPGs/racing games/shooters etc. (i.e. lack of 3rd party support).
the GC had a lot of new nintendo stuff on it as well: pikmin, luigi's mansion, etc. but i always remember capcom's support and the great variety of new games they brought to the console: killer7, p.n.03, viewtiful joe, RE:0, resident evil remake, resident evil 4. it was kind of a vital relationship, due to rare splitting from nintendo. and the second party stuff sealed the deal (in addition to zelda, mario etc.), with 2 metroid primes from retro, and eternal darkness and metal gear solid: twin snakes from silicon knights.
the GC was the console for rich and innovative action adventure games. it's the console you own to play nintendo games.
PS2 had vast 3rd party support, games that appealed to small children, all the way up to adults. they also had some quite avant-guarde stuff in addition to the mega-franchises. i think PS2 is strong in all genres of games. i can't really find a specific weakness....anyway, best console for a variety of experiences, and also quality rivaling nintendo. but also a lot of shovelware crap as well.
the Wii era feels very similar to the GC era at the moment - strong nintendo titles, but weak third party support. but the wii is relying on its 2nd parties to bring exclusives in. hopefully it will become the new PS2. i'd hate to see it end like the GC.
and the 360 and PS3, games-wise, are very similar. the increase of multi-platform titles makes it hard to justify purchases of both. we're seeing a rise in the western-developed game that is now rivaling japan in terms of design; developers who formely made games for the PC. other than that it is mostly beefed-up versions of old PS2 and XBOX franchises.
i salute the sony for their continuing broad demographic, reaching out into more 'artistic' waters with noby noby boy, the new ICO game, echocrome, every extended extra, valkyria chronicles etc. but perhaps aside from noby noby boy, these aren't just offbeat experiments, but substantial and deep experiences.
the 360 is the 'gamers' console. i don't know what i mean by that, but it sounds right. the Wii...well, it's nintendo! it's like the GC, but has a lot of stuff for people who wouldn't normally play games. i think eventually the wii will be the home for simple, fun games for everyone - but no more.
just my opinions.
the Gamecube was the most durable - could drop it from a three story building and it would still play....but it had the smallest library.
A few great series though - Mario Brothers - Zelda - Metroid.
xbox and PS2 were both great with huge libraries of fantastic games
while PS2 still has new games being developed...I bought one last week.
you are have to buy used for your xbox now....not that there are not plenty of games available.
there is still a lot of life left in all these consoles.
I could only wish the PS3 were bc to PS2 as well as PS1.
but the PS2 I have is 6 years old and shows no signs of strain yet.

I have both a ps2 and XBOX and because they are last gen I am scooping titles like mad. The XBOX games are really cheap,3 to 7 dollars in general.[QUOTE="iowastate"]I have both a ps2 and XBOX and because they are last gen I am scooping titles like mad. yeah, same. but GBA games are still quite expensive. i had no idea kirby was so popular.
All 3 systems were great...if GC went with that 3rd party support like they did at first, the generation would be the best ever and would stand the test of time as the best. I play my GC a lot due to my loyalty...if I had more money you can bet I would have picked up a PS2
Really? Do you have proof of a GC dropping 3 stories & can still work fine? This has to be the biggest balony I've ever heard!the Gamecube was the most durable - could drop it from a three story building and it would still play....but it had the smallest library.

My older brother threw a Mega Drive out of a 2nd floor window in anger when I was really young. Being an old system those things are quite fragile. Anyways, he ran downstairs picked it back up and bought it back in. When he plugged it back in, it worked straight away.[QUOTE="iowastate"]

It was so awesome, yet so disappointing. The PS2 is my favorite console so far. It had so many awesome games from different genres. The Xbox was alright but our PC, which was even old then, could play games that were out on the Xbox so I never really needed one. The Gamecube, on the other hand, was one of my biggest disappointments ever in terms of gaming. NES, SNES, and N64 were amazing consoles and I didn't like the direction Nintendo was going with the Gamecube. It probably didn't help that many 3rd party developers started to shift their focus, but I still feel the same way about the Gamecube today and even the Wii though I'll save that for System Wars.
[QUOTE="boybrushdred"]ps2 conquers all.PSP107we all should agree with this as xbox only had halo and xbox live while the gamecube was worst than N64 Right. The hundreds of games on Xbox were only copies of Halo... Personally, I only had a Xbox, and the system was great. There was a larger variety than most non-Xbox users believe. There were a lot of quality games as well.

I have played part of it, maybe half? So far it's been pretty cool. The reason I quit playing was I am at a part where I have to run from someone, but I have to take a particular route that I didn't want to memorize at that particular time. That's pretty much the only reason I quit playing it for a bit. It's a pretty good game with a lot of good moments. The first-person fighting in it works pretty well, too. If you can find it, I would likely reccommend it, but price is a big deal for me. :P
Last gen blows this current gens systems out of the water, over a cliff , and into a garbage can on the dark side of the moon. I'm still playing a few games from last gen. Luckily still own the old systems too (GC,ps2,xbox) so the games work great, even with 720p.
Of course there a few gems this gen. but over-all ( i may be alone but heres a big whatever) Last gen destroys this gen like imagine the U.S Army vs. Lichtenstiens army
No "Multiplayer" is not an excuse to say "replay value" what a joke this gen. Make good games again and not rely on "multiplayer" to hold your hand
