So did you? Well, I can't blame you. It is massive, at a size of 16 square kilometers...

Have you heard of Far Cry 2, though? It releases this fall, and is an open-world FPS set in Africa, with features such as tree regeneration and dynamic weather effects. And, get this, the world is...50 SQUARE KILOMETERS!

Trust me, if you wanted Crysis on consoles, weep no longer. This game not only matches the Crytek engine, but it bests it IMO, and all without the insane system requirements of the PC.

Its also for PC, so it will still have insane requirements. But I'm going to get it for PS3.

Thats the point, there won't be the problem of system specs because it will be available on the PS3 and 360...the only people who will still have a problem are those that only have a PC.

Can you do non-FPS things like you can in Oblivion? Or is it just an FPS...

What problem is that? Crisper graphics, faster load times, more precse aiming and mod support? Which one?

The people that aren't insane enough to spend thousands of dollars on a PC to run such an amazing game will suffer from, what the correct word, NOT BEING ABLE TO PLAY IT!?!?!?!?!?!?

I'm not debating over FC2's size or anything, but I'm fairly positive there aren't a few hundred dungeons to explore like there are in Oblivion. If you include all the underground bits of Oblivion, it is probably a bit closer to 35 square kilometers (including Shivering Isles as well). Still smaller, but factor in the underground and the fact that you have vehicles in FC2 and it's not as big a gap.

You don't know what there will be to explore, though. There could be underwater caverns/undergound bunkers just as easily. Yes, the vehicles are a legimate point, but I'd prefer to be able to drive rather than ride a horse. Plus, in Oblivion, you COULD quick travel to visited places...

Yup, PC may have a few difficulties but its far worth the trouble. I prefer tweaking for optimal settings for 10 mins than to just being force fed dull graphics.

...And then there's Just Cause which is ridiculously about 20 times the size.

Pffh... Daggerfall was 160,000 square kilometers. It took two literal weeks in real time to cross the land mass.

Man that sounds great. Can't wait for this game. I hope that 50 km or whatever is detailed like GTA and not a whole bunch of nothing.

476 kilometers per hour is pretty damn fast! I mean, it took me almost two weeks to walk 650 km in real life.

if the PS3 and 360 can run the game fine...than any modest Gaming PC will have no problem with it at all.

an a High end one will have much better graphics than the console version.

http://www.ripten.com/2008/03/15/far-cry-2-console-versions-not-a-far-cry-from-pc/

"Speaking at Play.com Live, Far Cry 2 designer Peter Redding told us that the common expectation was that the PC version was going to be infinetely better than either the PS3 or 360. He also told us why that's a load of rubbish."

"But he dodged the bullet about how much better the PC version would be: "The expectation is that for someone playing on a really good high-end PC, it is going to be amazing. But the console version is going to be fanastic."'

Obviously, a high-end PC will have amazing graphics, but the console versions will not be a slouch either.

But that is a good point you have made, however. I don't know why that didnt occur to me.=/
