I bought mine last year (August 2007 I believe), and I seem to be having some trouble with it. If the system starts giving me problems what should I do? What's the least expensive way to fix it? I didn't buy the warranty at the Circuit City. Anyway, I was playing Call of Duty 4,and the game kept on crashing in the middle of the online. Now it has the three red lights flashing. In short, I believe my system has the red ring of death....sigh.

Sledgehammer.

or you could call Microsofts customer Service.

I would go for the sledgehammer approach though.

Yeah, I did the whole repair thing online. As long as it's for the RRoD I don't have to pay, which is nice....I hope the whole repair/receive won't be painful.

Yeah, I wouldn't bother calling customer service, just go to Xbox.com and fill out the RRoD form. It's a lot faster and easier. I just sent mine out at the end of July, and I got my 360 back in two weeks. Microsoft even sent me a brand new console as a replacement.

Crazy, cause I bought my 360 around the same time, and it ALSO started messing up during CoD4 online (about 2 weeks ago). I had RRoD the next day. I filled out repair request online, they sent me a box. I think my console is on my way back to me already from repair (it only spent ONE DAY there.... bad sign?)

Why is it a bad sign? I think the repairs can be done quickly, or maybe they'll just send you a new model instead of replacing all the internal stuff.

Or, you could do what my friend did...wrap it in a towel and run it for 20 minutes so the CPU/GPU reseat, and then sell it to someone for 200$.

But even if you don't have a RRoD, it's only like 99$ for repairs/a brand new console. Happened to me, still got it back in two weeks.

Well, Microsoft will fix my Red ring for free...and I really don't feel like fixing the console on my own.

Slam it repeatedly against a wall, then break down in tears, and slam it some more :P

Then ring Microsoft.
