It looks like sega is trying to make another soinc game. I hope this is a good thing. They are also making many other great games. Does anyone think this is good news apart from me?

SEGA still makes outstanding games and they also publish outstanding games. See Yakuza, Virtua Fighter, Valkyria Chronicles, Condemned, Bayonetta, MadWorld, and The House of the Dead for reference. Aside from Sonic '06, I fail to see what's so "bad" about recent Sonic games. Secret Rings, Unleashed, and Black Knight were all very fun games. They may not have been what people wanted out of Sonic games, but they were good nonetheless.

I hope you were kidding about black knight, I have it, it's a joke. Haven't you seen ign's video review? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j5vd3NGpRvE Very very good review, of course fanboys downvote it. Of course I am a Sonic fanboy, but this isn't the same Sonic.

Don't ever, ever quote IGN on ANYTHING. Ever. The game is fun and I don't give a rat's ass what IGN thinks about it. Professional gaming review sources are more crooked than a boxing match between the mayors of Chicago and New Orleans.

I haven't played the game so I can't comment on that, but I agree that IGN is complete rubbish.

I know I loved the original Sonic games and the ones on the handhelds aren't bad.

Even the people in the comments say it's rubbish. I haven't played the game myself, but knowing what the Sonic franchise has been like since Sonic Adventure I'd be absolutely stunned if Black Knights was a good game.

Anyway, I'm not getting my hopes for this new Sonic game. I've come to accept the fact that at this point Sonic will never be good again. Especially not when all the games are centered around terrible childish dialogue, plots, and furservice.

You say his opinion is irrelevant, but if you actually read Watsons post, he never even gave an opinion about the game and hence why he said he enjoys the older ones. He is entitled to that, but quit getting all uptight and mad over the fact that there are people who donot like the newer sonic games. I have played Unleashed and I have to say, I thought it was a rather poor game and also poorly designed, but if you enjoyed it thats you perrogrative and your opinion. I respect that, but no need to get all riled up over the game, and respect that there are people who donot like it.

I will agree though that I myself despise IGN as well, but thats just my opinion as well.

It's always good news! I always check out a new Sonic game, and if sucks oh well, don't buy it then. At least they gave it a shot and didn't let Sonic just die.

I assume you're talking about "Project Needlemouse", correct? If so, then all this discussion about whether recent Sonic games have been good or not can stop. Because the new Sonic game is supposed to be a fully 2D game in the style of the original Sega Genesis Sonic games. So Sonic fans rejoice! Old-school fans rejoice!

I have some hope for Project Needle mouse, and I hope it plays out great. I am a huge fan of the Genesis Era games, particularly Sonic 2, since that is one of my favorite games of the 16 bit era if not one of my favorite games of all time. Lets hope Project Needlemouse captures the glory of those days, and avoids teh problems of current Sonic Games(I.e Unneccesary playable characters, cheap gimicks ie:Swords, Werehogs, and better design)

I use to be a Sonic fan, I'm not that much anymore, however I think it's superb that their trying to construct a new game. It would be unfortunate if Sonic simply vanished from the gaming industry, leaving their fans baffled.

Sonic 06 would have been good despite control and bug problems. Black Knight was okay in my eyes. As the above poster said, it wasnt what we wanted, but it was by no means bad. I did a review of it. However I might vote it less now as it was straight after I played it and still had the fun effect on me lol. Im excited for the new one. Sure its a risk to believe theyre promise but I would like to have faith in the new game. Sega All Star Racing isnt a true Sonic game or spinoff but it looks pretty good.

Oh and I absolutely love Sonic Chronicles on DS. Bring on the sequel!

I enjoyed "Sonic Unleashed" very much, and this is the Wii version we're talking about here. It's definitely a step in the right direction for 3D Sonic games but the werehog levels could use a bit more tweaking. The Day Levels are some of the best speed levels I've seen since Sonic Adventure on the Dreamcast. Sega are getting back on track there's no doubt about that.

I myself also recognize this. Sonic Unleashed was very enjoyable andI hope Sega will make its comeback sooner than expected.

I'm big fan of the Sonic games on the Mega Drive Sonic 1, 2, 3 then Sonic & Knuckles but I hated Sonic 3D and Spinball but Sonic Adventure 1 on the Dreamcast was good Sonic Adventure 2 I didn't like then Sonic Heroes which people seem to hate I do really like Sonic Heroes. Sonic 06 I thought was just bad and boring with bad camera angles as for Unleashed on the Wii the day time stages were great they had loads speed. Then the whole Wolf thing made it dull and boring because it was just too slow which is what you shouldn't expect in a sonic game. I do have to say this Unleashed had a great soundtrackwhich I'm glad it didn't feature those horrible rock songs I preferOrchestra style music on these type of games.

I think the Sonic Team need to give up with these pathetic gimmicks and overall they should listen to the fans personally I wish the original Sonic Team was back from the Mega Drive days as they produced great quality games now the games are quite poor. I'd rather Dimps take over with development of the Sonic games then the Sonic Team Dimps are better they designed the day time levels on the Wii and PS2 version of Unleashed and they were great with the Sonic Advance games. It just feels like Sonic team are trying to kill Sonic unlike Nintendo which produce great quality games with the Mario series and I'm no fanboy Sega have got some good games coming out this year and one of them I'm looking forward to is Yakuza 3.

Well if Sega stopped putting out a Sonic game on a system every year and took 3 or more to make one, we might actually get a great game. There is always at least one sonic game a year almost. We had Sonic heroes in 05, the Shadow the Hedgehog, then Sonic on 360, then a PS3 port in 07, then those Sonic PSP games, then Sonic and the Secret Rings, Sonic Unleashed, Sonic and the Black Night. There has been at least one sonic game a year since 05. Take a few years and make a good one.

The reason why Valkyria Chronicles, Mad World and Bayonetta were at the very least "good" games are because they weren't developed in one year. Valkyria Chronicles was shown off atTGS 2007 and from what they showed then you could tell they were working on that awhile. Then the game didn't come out in English until a little over a year later. Yakuza 3 came out in 2009 in Japan, when was the last Yakuza game like 06 JP? So they took 3 years to make a new one. Bayonetta was talked about at the end of 07 early 08 and is just comiing out now. As you can see, Sega put a lot more time in other franchises then they have with the Sonic games. Granted some games that have been in development for years still turn out bad, but usually, if a game is in development for a while, then more times than not at the very least, it will be enjoyable to an extent.

Well since I haven't played a Sonic game since Sonic 3-D Blast I voted "I don't really care." Sonic 3-D Blast has probably been a blessing in disguise because it has stopped me from playing all of the mediocre Sonic games the past 13 years.
