but why is it still called eidos if square bought it? anyway square is the best

Name recognition.

Let's say you saw Space Invaders with Square-Enix as the publisher, but knew Taito were the original publishers. There's a chance you wouldn't buy it simply because it wasn't made by the same people you trust. In reality, it is a Square-Enix product, just titled under a minor publishing house.

So S-E did the smart thing of leaving the Taito name seperate, which in part helped the sequel find its way to America as well. I'm not so sure the Eidos name marks the same level of trust, but for Batman I feel it was the smart decision to not confuse people who already had an interest in the title.

After all, nobody goes out of their way to compare it to The Brawler if they don't see Square-Enix.

It's the same as when a car company buys another. They don't get rid of the company name because some people trust that company.
