This isn't helping your argument. So what, you started playing games in 2000? Only a noob is going to claim that every game on the Xbox looks as great as the day it was released. Can't imagine how somebody could make a claim like that...oh wait, this is GS.

Bravo NEStorianPriest! (applause) I couldn't have said it better myself I am incapable of doing so.;) I think every video game system has a line-up of games that (let's just say) time hasn't been very nice to lol. I love the Super Nintendo and for me to say that every game on it as has aged beautifully would be a lie (of course then again not every game on the Super Nintendo was great to begin with). Still, I enjoy going back to the old-school games just because a lot of them do stand the test of time.

Name one Xbox game, no matter how bad it is, that LOOKS bad? I have yet to see an Xbox game that looks outdated as Some PS2 games.

You also mentioned about how not every SNES game was good to begin with. That's nice, but we are talking about graphics. I can still play Missle Command, but does it look good? I hope you say no.

You should probably taake this argument to SW. This is usually a very nice place.

BTW, holding up well means more than just graphics.

Age well: Pretty much any JRPG or SRPG ages well. Mostly because the formula was perfected early on and didn't require better physics or controls.

Age badly: Racing games and FPS games are pretty much a pain to play today if you're used to the modern day iterations. Because these games have advanced so much in controls and physics, that older games feel obsolete.

I agree and I do have a great example of how racing games do age badly as I was watching a clip on Youtube of one of my favorite racing games on the PS1-Rage Racer. Pardon the pun, but this game was all the rage for me back in the day and now looking at it I'd say not so much. I was watching a show about all the important FPS games from the 90s and they definitely have not aged well at all, but still an important foundation to the FPS genre.

I agree it's a lot of things whether it be graphics, music, or gameplay. Can't judge a video game solely on looks alone!

The test of time thing doesn't make sense to me. But I'll name some random games. Bomber Man 93 and 94 aged really well and it's the only reason why i touch my Nec PC Engine gaming console. Oh, and Air Zonk. I think Gex stood the test of time as well as Parrapa the rappa. Just not in the visual department. Rayman aged well as well. Rayman 2 is debatable. Omega Boost seems like it aged well to me. I also like it for not being Gran Tourismo. I will always think Loaded aged well. One of the best game from Interplay. That's just a few, i won't name them all. Some I don't think aged well. Mario 64 OoT Goldeneye FFVII-VIII-IX (Still fun to play.) Bof 3-4 Street Fighter Alpha Virtua Fighter 1-2 Sub-Zero Special Forces Thrust Frogger. Every single game. Pac-Man 2 Pac-Man World 1 Megaman X6 Namco Museum 1-3 Just a few.

Unless it's something like horror, where immersion is key, graphics hardly matter. It's nice to have good ones, though.

Like the sig, BTW.

Thank you very much. Yeah, it's easy to get lost in a game that just immerses you completely where graphics are not even noticeable. Of course I definitely love graphics that are fitting to what's going on in the game (like Silent Hill for example).I do love when it all comes together nicely with all the key elements that make video games great.
