Good Tip!

A few months ago, I got a better PC and have been using steam more often, mainly for buying, and most of their deals are awesome. This is actually my first time shopping during their summer sale and I enjoy how they make it exciting by having 8hr deals. I am such a frugal shopper that I have to check in every 8 hrs just to try and get the best deal.

Nothing to get excited about, but its only day one.

I picked up XCOM in some other sale a couple days ago and I can't stop playing it. It's amazing, and ridiculously addictive.

About XCOM, I really liked the demo, but I'm worried about the length and replayability. I'm not sure what's the lasting value of the game, so I'm unsure of how much I'm willing to pay for it. Care to shed some light on this?

FTL is a lot of fun, usually the game goes by quickly and you have to a bit of management to keep everyone alive. You will die as as you run into bad luck, or well I always seem to have bad luck when it comes to it. Be prepared to die and having a lot to contend with when things go wrong. Tough game, but you can replay the game a lot as the maps are always randomly generated.

XCOM is long. Think my initial playthrough took around 25-30 hours. Can easily get a few playthroughs out of it by advancing to higher difficulty levels with ironman mode enabled, which disabled manual saves, thus locking in every action you take. Enemy variety tops out early on, and the late-game content gets a bit boring, but on the whole, it's awesome and full of value.

Will probably get FTL, even though I'm probably not going to play it right away. X-com looks tempting, but I already have it with PS+. I may double dip in the end.

Gabe Newell has talked about this and he says that sales not only increase units sold, but revenue as well. He also claims that the sales "energize" the userbase and the baseline sales actually increase after the discount has ended.

One thing's for sure - they wouldn't be doing it if they weren't making money off it. :P

I gave up on Witcher 2 yesterday when it sent me on quests to get a potion needed to defeat a boss and then threw me into the boss fight without the ability to actually drink the potion. For all its choices and graphical effects, it's still a very amateur-ish game. I'd recommend everyone just wait for Witcher 3.

Tomb Raider for $12 is a f*cking steal. Still not buying Re6 for $20. Needs to be $10 cheaper.

I bought Absolution months ago for $5 from Amazon. I have it installaed but cant get myself to play it. Give me a reason to play it.

BL2, well I feel burned out on the series after putting in nearly 30 hours last year. It's still too early for me. I went through the same thing with Darksiders. DS2 is way too similar to DS1 and i just cant get into the whole grinding gameplay again.

I picked up Thomas Was Alone and Super Meat Boy so far this sale. Not sure on FTL I just don't know if I could get into or not so eeeh. Fez looks kind of interesting but not enough to bite yet, I still got a lot of other things to play.GodModeEnabled
