[QUOTE="ArabianKnight14"]Why is my favorite MGS slammed by everyone,Sure Raiden was bad but that doesnt make one of the worst games ever,IMO its story was the best in the series and the gameplay was good.Ash2X

Abad way to say I haven't played the game or understood a word in it is to say it sucked.

MGS2 storyline is the best in videogames history. It had many allusions and refrences to reality in a unique setting to not make it too close to the real thing or else it would be boring like moh games. This is called genius.

Calling MGS2 "genius" is like calling Tool and Radiohead "smart music". It's ham-fisted pretentious drivel, and Kojima is a hack.

Now, when you ignore the fact that MGS has always tried too hard to be taken seriously, and view it in a more cornball fashion, it does lighten the load a bit.

It's like Hideo's trying to be Tarantino or something.

You actually rate Tarantino as a director and yet you slate Kojima. Interesting.

*rofl* Kojima and Tarantino are really pretty similar...both can make a good show but if it comes to make storys...at least ZoE and MGS 1 worked out...Tarantino,well,none of his Movies

To those who think MGS2 had any connection to reality:No there aren´t Vampires or people that can´t be hit.The Nukes existed not only in MGS and they existed looong before the Movies about them.If you live in a small grey room like Raiden does you just don´t live, that´s all.Even James Bond is more realistic.

It has too many connections to reality.

Halo 2's plot was absolutely non-sensical. Perhaps it was just extremely poorly told, but I couldn't tell you the overarching plot to that game if my life had depended on it.

Vampyronight

I feel same way. I've played through Halo 2 twice, I do understand some of its plot better the second time through, but they spent so much time having the Covenant ramble on about nothing of interest instead of keeping the storyline focused.

I would have liked to know exactly where I was after each cutscene, on earth, on another planet? It was hard to tell from the clipped and pieced together cutscenes.

I've got to read all the Halo books sometime, I only read Fall of Reach. I know I'd understand more if I could read the others. Reading Fall of Reach helped a lot with the first game, especially the beginning of why the Covenant were following them and what happened to the other Spartans.

As much as I like the Halo storyline the storytelling is really awful at times, yes. Knowing what happens in the books and a lot of patience is pretty much required if you want to understand everything that happens in H2. Judging by the plot twists that can be found in Ghosts of Onyx non hardcore fans of the series will be even more lost in halo 3, I'm afraid. It's really a shame because the story itself is fantastic.

In bioshock I don't understand why the dude decides that its a good ideato start activating the lift thingy. Wouldn't you just wait around for either a rescue or a passing a boat?

I guess that wouldn't have made much a good game? But still, i can't help but think the dude brought it on himself.

I think it would have been better if there was a button in the lighthouse that said "escape pod" and the guy thought that he was activating some kinda becon...but unbeknown to him he was activating the escape pod RECALL to the city of rapture (someone down in rapture had used the escape pod when things started to go crazy in the city) That would have been cool - because that would have been an honest mistake that landed him in trouble that he needs to escape from....rather than some doof that decided to start pressing buttons.

I think they should draft me in to fill in the blanks in computer games *high five*

Halo 1's story is the best, though. Who thought it was a genius idea to have them start off from escaping from Reach when it was getting destroyed, and that's where your story started. And "Fall of Reach" is pretty much all of what happened, explained before Halo 1. And then "First Strike" is just right after Halo 1, where Cortana and MC are alone on the ship escaping. The book feels very Battlestar Galactica, where they're just trying to survive and very few hope.

Halo 2's story is good, because they show the Covenant side and how they're religious and all that. But playing the game, I had no idea what was happening because the cutscenes would be either too sparse or just not explaining well enough. It's not so bad, but still it wasn't as focused as Halo 1.

Half Life 2 is just ok. I'm not sure about the ending too, but I haven't played Episode 1.

What about FFVIII? Something to do with a moon? My friend tried to explain it, but then he blew my mind and I couldn't comprehend anymore.

MGS 2: What does the President touching Raiden's balls have to do with anything?! Can someone explain the story too, all i know is the Patriots, government conspiracy, nukes, and superhuman clones. EXPLAIN!!! Or is it just convoluted and plain self-indulgent like most David Lynch films are?

many, many people have already said Gear, but i just have to say it again. it is possibly the worst story i've ever seen in a game. i mean, you plant the bomb thing at the end of chapter 3, then it doesn't work, and all of a sudden Baird's like, "hey, btw guys, i've had this thing the whole time. it's 3 times better than the one we were trying to use." where did he even get that thing? he just like...pulls it out of his pocket or something. and then all of a sudden there's a bomb on a train. where did that come from? how does everybody know about it? why is it there? also, if you knew nothing about the game before getting it, they don't explain why Marcus is in prison, or why he's so pissed off at RAAM. or who RAAM even is. it's like the writer had severe ADHD or something. "locust, mapping device....lots of shooting...oh look, a bomb!" also, the backstory of The Darkness doesn't make a lick of sense if you don't know enough about it already. Jackie gets caught in an explosion, fights some gangsters, and all of a sudden there's a demon coming out of him eating people and sucking people into black holes. ok. no biggie. happens all the time. and after the cutscene in which the Darkness pops out of Jackie and kills everybody (using the black hole, creeping dark, darkling summon, and darkness impaling thing powers) you only have access to the summon and creeping dark powers. if you just saw Jackie use those powers in a cutscene, why can't you use them during gameplay? other than that the story in The Darkness is pretty good though.

Gears of War. Worst plot holes I've ever seen in a game. The game never really addressed how that bomb came on the train (or the Beserker for that matter. How did she get on a fast moving train)? The game never really addressed how Fenix's father plays into the story. Why was Marcus in prison? I know most of the plot holes will be answered in future installments, but a little clarification never hurt anything.maddog95376

The main issue I had with it was the whole train thing at the end. I agree that there seemed to be a big missing chunk of story between that and the previous chapter. It gives you no background as to how you arrived there.

I totally agree with the train gap. It's like something significant got cut just before the train level.

You are thinking of the right game. You played as a blue and red flying mystery marines who spout nonsensical Engrish after every level while striking ridiculous poses. The entire game makes no sense whatsoever, but strangely enough, is a really solid shooter from a gameplay perspective.

MGS may be set in an alternate reality, but a lot of the stuff mentioned in the story rings true.

And, with MGS2, I never thought the story was over complicated. Granted ,the first time I played it through, I didn't really get it, but when replaying it, more and more made sense.

I'm not saying mgs2 storyline is based on a real story! I'm saying it makes most sense. It is by far the best story in a videogame ever! even better than many movies I've seen. Kojima did best when he made a videogame focusing heaveily on storyline without sacrificing the gameplay. I don't wanna change the sub here but governments do control people's minds and make choices for them. No one is free.

In bioshock I don't understand why the dude decides that its a good ideato start activating the lift thingy. Wouldn't you just wait around for either a rescue or a passing a boat?

I guess that wouldn't have made much a good game? But still, i can't help but think the dude brought it on himself.

Play Second Sight...better Storyline,better Gameplay.

The Gameplayis a different thing, but MGS2 was very weak there too.It had been just minor stuff, but if I can shoot almost everyone from a distance they can´t see me it get´s boring after a few hours. It´s just good because of the surrounding stuff the rest is compared to MGS1 really really weak. And even that wasn´t really good without the show, but the Storyline was FAR better. At least in my opinion.
