Man I was on the water world in Super Mario 3, almost got past it, but I lost all my lives, so I gave up. Then I decided to revist and beat it this time, but the spot that had the file was blank:o. I spent so much time:cry: Why?

Same with my legend of zelda snes cartridge, whats the point of this game if it is just going to not work anymore once you turn it off. Maybe when you unplug the adaptor it does something, or when you use another cartridge. Same thing happened to my super mario world, I was out of the mysterious woods, and then suddenly I need to do it all over again. But my DKC game never had this problem....

What I like about the sega genesis, is the games are short and sweet, so every time you play, it is designed to be high quality for a short ammount of time, and you dont have to worry about this stuff. But the snes games are longer, most of it though is just repeats of the same thing with small variations.

the save batteries are old and dead, you can replace them. as for the "snes games are too long" statement you must not like playing modern games that are 20+ hours, subsequently don't play any of the shining force or phantasy star series for the genesis because you would definitely think those are "too long"sounds like you just came in here to rip on the snes.... whatever, regardless of whether you rip on it, its still an awesome and more technically capable system.

You have to replace the save batteries inside the cartridges.

This happens to my Super Mario World game occasionally. So I just got it on the Virtual Console. I'm going to do the same with Super Metroid. I figure it'll be worth it since my stupid old snes would just end up erasing everything for no good reason.

Hmmm I never knew about batteries :o But its really just the fact that the saves are dissapearing it is annoying. I dont know about fixing the zelda game, I dont really like it that much anyways. I remember playing the gba one (not knowing it is the same thing), and thinking how I just dont like it compared to the gameboy version. Thats just my opinion though... I never imagined that there was some battery in the cartridge, that must of cost a good deal of money, I should of taken the batteries out of those best buy gift cards long ago:cry:

I don't believe it's expensive to fix or very difficult. And what's this about batteries in gift cards? I'm confused...

They use little watch batteries. Unscrew the cart, take the battery to the store, and ask for a new one.

Make sure you know what you are doing before you take the cartridge apart. The last thing you want is to ruin your games. I'm sure a google search will give tons of information on the subject.

Battery backed RAM was a common way of saving data back before Flash memory became cost effective.

It is a very easy process, I have done it to many of my games. Just make sure you read up on how to do it first.
