I personally love playing video games, but honestly I don't finish many of them. I always plan to, but something new always comes out keeping me from doing so. So needless to say I have many titles, across all three consoles, that are just sitting on my shelf collecting dust and all of which I am planning on finishing (yeah right).

With that said, the games I do finish are because of something that kept me playing until the end, most of the time it's the story. The worst thing however, is when you put all your time and effort into finishing a game, and then the end just plain old sucks. I was wondering what game you finished, the whole time enjoying the run, while only to be disappointed by the lackluster ending. Please, just to be courteous to our fellow gamers if you are to reply, start of by stating the name of the game you're talking about just to avoid ruining the game for someone else.

Mine would have to be the Incredible Hulk for the Super Nintendo! The end of this game was so anticlimactic it wasn't even funny. Of course this game was beaten not because of the story, but because I have always been a big fan of the Incredible Hulk. It's been a while since I beat it and all I can remember is the final boss was the Leader and you couldn't be the Hulk to beat him, believe that. The Leader never even moved, he just stood there on the edge of a cliff, and you actually had to turn back into Banner and punch him ONCE, to throw him off the ledge! What ever happened to puny Banner, Hulk smash!

If I remember correctly after being disappointed by the ending, I beat the game to pieces with a hammer, which turned out to be more fun than the game itself!

Most recently? The ending of Dead Space 2 disappointed me. Whilst the final battle was good and the escape was exciting, the conclusion was disappointing.

The worst ending ever is the one in HL2.

Second worst ending ever is the one in HL2 Episode2.

I ******* hate bad cliffhangers.

for a game where by far the best thing about it (and really awesome thing) is its story the ending almost makes it not worth sitting through all the tedious cigarette selling and slow arse driving worse ending i have seen in a game bar none is god of war 3 jesus christ almighty did that ending make me angry its one thing to make a bad ending...it's another thing to not only make a bad ending but making it bad simultaneously the last game in the series and totally ****ing over and laming up the coolest characters in video game history

No. It was Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II - The Sith Lords. It had no ending.

Jericho. I loved the game but the ending was terrible; I assume the developers were setting us up for a sequel that never came. Haven: Call of the King was hamstrung by a similar issue. The ending for Beyond Good and Evil was pretty tepid too, but that's BGAE all over.

Going to mention a few endings including some people have already mentioned and tell you why it was so bad. This is going from memory and not going to spell check so bare with me.

Jericho: An enjoyable game with a fairly decent end boss fight, however it's very unsatisfying to complete as all that happens is you beat the boss in some underground chamber, rocks start falling down, the place is going to collapse and so you jump into the water, swim a little in what appears to be an underwater passage and as your rising up to what looks like sunlight the game suddenly cuts out and the credits roll.

It doesn't tell you what happened to The First Born, it doesn't conclude what members survivle, it just ends.

Mafia II: The game starts to get better, I was getting really into it and I loved how the lead character was belivably becoming the main hitman for the mob. During one mission your sent to tie up some loose ends. I thought this was just another mission and perhaps the turning point to the game in which things start to get really interesting. I had no idea it was the final stage! So you kill some mafia boss, then you head outside with your buddy who earlier had a gun pointing to your head until you told him to 'trust you'. So he helps you gun down the mafia boss then you walk outside to see the mob your now working for waiting for you. They say "sorry, but your friend wasn't part of the deal" then the game ends.

It's bad because it's a missed oppertunity and the game was too short. It was a great direction to take the story and I was wondering what the protagonist was going to do about it.

Quake: The original Quake has one of (if not the) worst endings in video game history. So you come into this room with the end boss, it's just a load of tentacles waving about in a tub throwing fireballs at you. You run up a ramp and jump into a teleporter which 'telefrags' it. Then the credits roll.

Hydrophobia: It just cuts out in the middle of the game. It concludes absolutley nothing. Seriously, your swimming along in a room that's flooding with water and then it ends. So annoying, pretty good B game mind, enjoyed playing it, ground breaking water effects.

Enslaved: I won't spoil all this one because i think it's a game worth playing anyway, but the reason I hated the ending was how it doesn't conclude what happens between the relationship between Monkey and Trip. How dare they! It lacks conclusion is the words to describe it. It answers some stuff, but not enough, it just seems a but sudden where the game cuts off.
