Ok so I got a funny story to tell you, but first this thread is about those crazy things you did when you got excited you were going to get a new game....or to get a new game.

For me it was when Final Fantasy VIII came out. I waited a good couple of years for it and even was able to get ouf of school early thanks to having good grades. I was a young Sixteen year old excited and upon entering the mall where the Software Etc was(Its still there, just now its a gamestop), I rushed into the mall and there was a kid walking about my age. He was headed into the game stop, but because they had just gotten their copies in, I wanted to get mine first. So I shoved the kid out of the so I could get into the Software Etc, and got my copy first. He was pretty pissed but I walked out with my brand new copy of FFVIII in hand and ignored his insults as I gawked at the cover. None the less, I would not do that now, but being an immature 16 yearold I would do anything for a game in those days.

So what about you guys, do anything crazy like this to get your game first or get a game? Or something crazier?

When I was young I would ask my parents for it, and maybe they would get it. When I was 15+ I would pay for it.

I saved my lunch money in 6th Grade from October to March. I lost a lot of weight that year! But I got Robocop and the NES Advantage to show for it. :)

Finished a game at WalMart... Metal Gear Solid 4... :?

It took ALL day.. It was pretty funny because I would rush to the bathroom, and rush back... I saw a Walmart attendant gawking at me as I was chewing on a snickers bar while I was playing. Got lucky that no one else wanted to play...

The sad thing is, I wasn't 'young' when I did that. ;)

EDIT: Oops, it said, legacy game.

I did the 24 endurance race in Gran Turismo 2 without pausing. Had the Toyota GT-ONE. ;)

This story is not about me but funny, nevertheless. My junior high school friend wanted this game for his Amiga 500 but his parents wouldn't buy it for him unless he CONFORMED to the protestant church! So he did the confirmation camp (3 days of bible reading and "fun" Hallelujah games and songs) went for the ceremony at church and finally came home and got the game! :)

Hi :)

Traveling nearly 100miles and paying £90.00 GBP for Virtua Racing (Japanese Import version)on the Sega Megadrive (Genesis) - seems an age away...

Another memorable, I suppose even 'crazy' story, but admittedly not exactly a legacy story....

The evening (about one week after UK release in Dec 2006) that I impulsively decided I wanted to que to get a Nintendo Wii.

I also talked my missus into joining me in travelling to a 'fairly local' ToysRUs in early hoursto get one as they were only available in very limited numbers.

We joined an existing que at3.45am in morning, to wait patiently in line fora Nintendo Wii - it was absolutely freezing - so cold we were all allowed to que inside the inside trolley parking exit area - we waiteduntil 7.30am when we were given a voucher for a Wii bundle.

I stillhave the uttmost respect for the Wii (and my missus - what an Otaku xx ).

I would never sell this Wii because of the great sentimental value atributed from the aforementioned experience - t'was worth every penny :D

I stole a box with more than 30 SNES games and console at a flea market, good thing that I did. The console had to be cleaned before I even got it to work.

Well, I used to bail hay for 12 hours and take my money and blow it on a fewgames... did that several times... lol, nothing like breaking your back for that long for $5 an hour... lmao Oh well, it made me appreciate my stuff more. I can honestly say I have never broken any gaming related item due to misuse. To this day I have everything in perect working order from the age of 3 up... minus 1 Xbox 360 rrod and one PS3 ylod.. :( (I got new ones though).

When I was like nine or ten I had two ear infections at once. Needless to say, I was a pretty miserable kid at the time. My mom had this horrible-tasting medicine that worked really well. I wanted nothing to do with it, but she was determined to make me take it. So she cut me a deal; get me a Gamecube in exchange for drinking this awful stuff.

I got a Gamecube with Melee the next day. :D
