Anyone play any of the Elder Scrolls games? I've played Morrowind and it's expansions, and they are some of the best RPGs I've ever played. I've been wanting to get Oblivion for SO LONG now, it's not very funny.

Thoughts?

I love Morrowind, I was briefly frustrated with it when you hit the point where you cannot work for all the guilds any longer, but man what a great game, makes going back to turnbased difficult.

I hear that Bethseda will be doing Fallout 3 as it's next project, so imagine the Elder Scrolls formula in the post-apocalypse, might convince me to jump to current gen.

I never played Morrowind, but I have to say that Oblivion is great.

I played so much Morrowind, took up two entire summers. Oblivion is just as amazing, I hope Bethesda makes TES V.

I've played the whole series, including Redguard and Battlespire. Have to say Daggerfall and Morrowind are my favorites.

Though, I think I spend more time modding Morrowind and Oblivion than playing them, anymore.

Morrowind is definitely one of my favorite games. I haven't gotten through it all yet, but I do have 100 hours on one character...

Honestly, I didn't care for Oblivion. I wanted another Morrowind but bigger in scope. I didn't like Oblivion's graphical brightness or it's combat. And I didn't like the interface as well as Morrowind's. Maybe it's just me, though.

I very much dislike the combat in Oblivion. I was fairly dissapointed that the landscape wasn't anything like it had been described in lore, too.

Morrowind is my favorite game of all time. I thought Bethesda ruined Oblivion. It felt like a step backward.

I've only played Oblivion and Arena. I really want to play Morrowind, but I'm not sure if it would work on my laptop.

It should. The requirements aren't that high on it. Check out elderscrolls.com to get the specs. It's definitely worth looking into. It's also for the Xbox (I don't know if it is BC), though I do prefer the PC version. The Xbox is still a good version, though.

I've played all 4 of the Elder Scrolls.

Elder Scrolls 1: Arena

Elder Scrolls 2: Daggerfall

Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind

Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion

They all suck and I hate this series. I love RPGs, but not these ones.

I don't even know much about hardware stuff. All I know is that my graphics card (which is the only thing I'm really worried about) is Intel GMA 950.

In that case, I would ask someone on the Morrowind board, or in the PC forum...

I've played all the Elder Scrolls games, aside from the mobile phone ones. I thoroughly enjoyed all of them. On the whole though, I think I liked Daggerfall the best. Morrowind, with mods and the expansion packs, is a very close second though.

The series incredible. Looking forward to see what Bethesda will do with Fallout 3 and I'm really looking forward to the first tidbits of info we'll get for Elder Scrolls V.

After playing Daggerfall, I was utterly disgusted with the series and passed on any Elder Scrolls games. Then when Bethesda put out Morrowind I decided to give them another chance (I heard a lot of good things). I hated it. And then I foolishly bought Oblivion for the 360 because Gamespot gave it a 9.6 (Which I find fairly compelling, no?)

Look, I don't want to start an arguement, but I'll tell you right now that I'm not stupid like you seem to be insinuating.

They are side-quests that are not part of the series proper.

If they are games with Elder Scrolls in the title, then they are in the series...

You can't just arbitrarily decide to not include some games...

.

And what didn't you like about Morrowind? I love the game, and I'm always curious to see why others don't like it.

Oh My God...Oblivion, the best game i've ever played and most addictive game, i borrowed a ps3 from a friend of mine...and played it till my brain cracked...then he wanted it back, He's like so stupid, lsn to this...he told me that he kept playing but then the player just stops moving...and he stopped playing, when i played it i discovered that the player gets encumbered (Unable to carry anymore) ...LOL, IDIOT...i didnt tell him but i asked him if it was ok for me to take the game, YES, its mine. but he took the ps3 and gave it back to me after alot of nagging, but there was something wrong with the ps3, i have no idea why...i began the game then it froze and strange lines appeared on the screen, after i reset it nothing comes on, after alot of trying i gave it back to him, lol the **** blamed me for the thing, his stupid uncle destroyed it, crashed it into the wall. This is the story behind my sig. :) :) :)

I love Morrowind, but I can't really play it these days unless I'm in the right mindset - the game's at it's best when you get all immersed in it.

I love Morrowind and Oblivion. Only problem is, I do not think that my machine is capable of playing Oblivion.

I might purchase Morrowind, if I ever come up with the currency. But you are right, the Elder Scrolls series is the best RPG series to be released. (in my opinion).

Just wish that either I could, have a powerful enough computer to play Oblivion 'cos it is da bomb!

Or, that I could be bothered earning the money to go out and buy Morrowind.

Somehow, I actually understood that...

And how could someone not realize he was overencumbered. The game says it...

Fine. Not that it matters one way or another. Bethesda's ambitions are stretched too thin making this series feel shallow in my opinion. If you want to play good RPGs try The Baldur's Gate series, Ultima 7 or Underworld. It was painful watching my brother play through all of Oblivion. I stayed for the company.

I disagree. Oblivion and Arena are good RPGs, Morrowind and Daggerfall, in addition to the games you named, are great RPGs.

And just for the sake of throwing in their, Shadowkey is a pretty decent game considering it was made for a mobile phone and Battlespire and Redguard were fun action games for their time.

Spread ambitions is your only reason that all of the Elder Scrolls games are bad?
