Never posted here before so indulge me.....

I have a long list on my Amazon Wish List of upcoming games that will be releasing over the next 12 months or so (who doesn't? :-)

But - here's my thing. I was browsing through all of them yesterday, and not one of them list a Collector's Edition. No Rise of the Tomb Raider with a Lara statue, no AC Syndicate with an Assassin statue, no Mad Max with a car, etc. etc.

It seems to me this is a pretty big departure from the normal; usually, game manufacturers released their Collector's Editions alongside the standard editions, and also included them for sale on Amazon alongside the standard edition.

So what's going on?? Why has this suddenly changed? Where are all the Collector's Editions?? I do note that some AC Syndicate Collector's Editions ARE available, but you have to hunt them out on Ubisoft's own store etc. etc. I am allergic to doing this - if it isn't sold on Amazon, the chances are I'm not going to get it.

Any thoughts/input would be greatly appreciated!

Mad Max does have a collectors edition that comes with a license plate, DLC, and the Mad Max Fury Road Blu-Ray. Not sure about Tomb Raider though.

Never seemed like everything has a big collectors edition, and many of them were smaller, statues and other big goodies seem to be few and far between

Interesting. Thanks for the perspectives.

I've never bought a Collector's Edition myself either, but mainly that is because I've never had the money. I finally do, and now I can't see any for any of the games I may preorder that I listed above. It kinda sucks.

Hopefully, the one that really matters (Mass Effect Andromeda) will have a Collectors Edition available.

@VakarianGirl: When it comes to looking for Collectors Edition games, my suggestion is, look into Gamestop collectors edition games logo over there to see what comes with it, if you don't like shopping at Gamestop, that's okay, just see what the collectors edition is up and go see if Amazon has it up fro grabs and if Amazon doesn't have it, go with Gamestop. I'm a Mass Effect fan so the only collectors edition I ever did was for Mass Effect 2/3 and they were worth it, especially Mass Effect 3 was the best one. I hope my advice helps.

I'm hoping to see an announcement of an Uncharted 4 collectors edition. The third game had a really good one so I'm hoping lightning strikes twice as this is basically confirmed to be the last in the series.

Maybe so many people stopped buying them, realising that the figures are all hideous and will never be worth anything.

Most likely collectors editions or even those limited editions don't go over very well. How often do you see them months later at a fraction of the price when new? The few that I have were purchased because they were priced so low and in many cases I found them cheaper than purchasing the game alone.

@Solaryellow: I don't know. It seems the Collectors Editions of upcoming big games (Fallout 4, MGSV) are all sold out and have been since they were announced. So what gives? Shoot - the statue ALONE from The Witcher 3 Collectors Edition is selling for $100+ right now on Amazon's seller marketplace. So there doesn't appear to be a lack of demand.........

I guess I just would've thought that these Collectors Editions are made for a reason - for the true hardcore fans of franchises to treat themselves to a little bit of game memorabilia. I wouldn't think that THAT is something that has died a death.....

Mucho dinero. That's the main reason why these editions are made. Most of them include useless baubles costing pennies to make thus resulting in big money. Of course some people like them and others see them as a potential profit maker. My local BB has an aisle full of these expensive collectors editions just gathering dust because they seem to be on the high end rather than being a happy medium.

It is the same deal for games from Square Enix these days as the AC: Syndicate CE's, seems like their Collectors Edition games only come out on the Square Enix store. I had to buy my Mighty No 9 and Heavensward CE's on there.

In terms of collectors editions, as someone who has bought many of them, I can say that PC definitely gets the sweeter end of the deal. Blizzard puts out some of the best collectors editions out there. In terms of console gaming,m you really don't get the number or quality that you see in the PC Market, but you can definitely find a few good ones if you look hard enough.

@VakarianGirl: they usually announce it around 2 months before release or so. Some do it before. But that's the norm usually
