I'm with you. I have Darksiders 2 pre-ordered on Amazon already. I still need to complete Darksiders before I play the second.
But that's not the first game I'm buying. In fact, my first game of 2012 will be Soul Calibur V. I'm interested in seeing how the series will be progressing in the latest installment...and I'm also curious about Ezio as a fighter in a fighting game.
Well, I still need to get Assassin's Creed: Revelations so I may buy that at some point this month, we'll see. But then again, Metal Gear Solid HD Collection is to be released on the same day in February as The Darkness 2. I would say either Assassin's Creed: Revelations, or MGS. But I will definately be pre-ordering MGS for release, and it's more likely I'll wait to buy that first.
Mine will probably be Final Fantasy XIII-2 unless i come across a Catherine limited edition, Skyward Sword bundle, or an older game i want but can't find like Valkyria Chronicles
Probably the Silent Hill Collection and Darksiders 2. I'll probably get Mass Effect 3 sometime, but I'm going to wait a bit after it's release. Getting burned on a day-one buy of Dragon Age 2 taught me my lesson.
I've been trying to be more frugal lately, but if there was one game I'd want day one that was coming out soonest, it'd be Wrath of the White Witch on PS3.
Maybe I'm being too cryptic... Just in case you couldn't figure it out, it's Tales of Graces f for the PS3.
I can't freaking wait! It's about damn time we got another Tales game! Tales of Graces f better do well in the U.S. so more Tales games are localized in the future.
in terms of new games, im not sure. i cant believe im interested in a zombie game, but i kind of want to try amy. then i also am interested in kingdoms of amalur and ME3, but im not sure about either as i worry about ME3 regressing and kingdoms is kind of looking a little off in its identity and dungeon design.
Only have my laptop for the next few months so I boughtX-COM: Enemy Unknown, damn it's addicting but very unforgiving, keep saving the game after every move.
Fallout New Vegas Ultimate Edition will be my first acquisition of the year I think, but on Wednesday my friend is going to let me try out his SWTOR account and if I like that enough that just might be what I am buying. But Fallout atm.

Darksiders was fantastic, if not slightly derivative. I can't wait for the sequel.
First game I am buying this year is Devil May Cry Collection or Jak and Daxter Collection, whichever comes out first.
I'm looking forward to Tales of the Abbys and RE Revelations... they both come out a few days apart so I will probably go out and buy them both on the same day.
Well Saints Row The Third came in the post around New Years if I recall right so that could count as my first game I bought this year (but I technically got it on boxing day online in a sale but it did not arrive till new year). If not then Mass Effect 3 is what I am aiming to be the first disk retail game I buy that is out this year. SSX looks cool as well but with it being so close to Mass Effect 3 release I may hold off until there is a demo or a price drop. I am trying to be good and play my backlog and cut that down a bit before going buying more games but whether I can stick at it is another thing. Saying that I did only buy a 99 pence piece of DLC for a tower defence game in the Steam sales so maybe I have turned a new page. Time will tell, but Mass Effect 3 is the big game I am probably going to buy.
Unless something unexpected pops up it's probably going to be Soul Calibur V at the end of the month despite the apparent exclusion of my go to character Mi-na Seong. I guess they couldn't keep stealing her good moves and giving them to Kilik forever.
