I always thought the N64 was the party system back in the day. Now its the Wii, but let's hear what you guys think are the most fun games to play with a couple buddies. I know many of you are just going to say goldeneye, mariokart, and smash bros. Thats fine if you really loved those games but let's try to name some games that maybe go unnoticed. Me personally, I had a blast with Gauntlet Legends, Blitz 2001, Turok 1&2, Allstar baseball 2001, and mario golf. What do you think??

GoldenEye 007 was one that instantly hit my mind. Man, that game is a blast to play with your friends. I remember two years age when my 3 friends and I were spending the 4th of July playing the multiplayer. However we put the handicaps to max and the only we could die was with the golden gun. Unfortunately, one of my friends got the golden gun and al the ammo and my other two friends and I had a competition to see who could survive the longest in the chase with the man with the golden gun. Just a ton of fun. Oh, and Perfect Dark and Mario Kart 64 are tons of fun too for multiplayer. :D

As well as others, goldeneye is at the top of the list. Also, Bomberman was very fun. Tony Hawks Pro Skater, Pokemon Stadium, and San Francisco Rush were also very fun.

DK64 multiplayer is extremely fun. Mario Kart 64 is probably my favorite multiplayer game ever. Those racing games can get intense when you get together whith some friends, lol.

007 Goldeneye, nuff said. We probably would have been into Smash Bros., as well, but we didn't discover it until one of my friend's little brothers got Melee for the Gamecube.

This is why the N64 was the best system of that generation.

Wave Race - Even though it is only 2 players, it required enough skill and finesse(riding someones tail, showboating with tricks, or rubbing the opponent in the right way could sent them off kilter) that races were still pretty heated.

Goldeneye - For obvious reasons. One thing we didn't like was the damage factor. Everyone that I played with hated that a shot to the head did not take them down in one shot. Setting the damage to -4 (I believe it was) fixed this.

Turok 2 - Though not as great as Goldeneye, it was a good change of pace.

Perfect Dark - It's debatable if it is a better experience than Goldeneye. I lean towards no, because with 4 people playing, the game didn't perform as well. Though I do go back and forth, because even by todays standards, the options were ridiculously high. 2 players could have a blast going up against X amount of Dark Agents.

Wayne Gretsky 64 - Often overlooked, it is still one of the best arcade style hockey games around.

NBA Hangtime - Same deal as WG64.

NFL Blitz - Same deal, again. You know, having 4 controller ports was just the best decision out there.

Bomberman - Can't go wrong here.

Super Smash Bros. - To this day, the best Smash Bros. game released. Each sequel has been dummied down somewhat.

Star Fox 64 - I haven't played this one in a long long time, but I remember having a good time with it.

Conker's Bad Fur Day was such a blast with firends, i remember playing Heist for hours, then some deathmatch, beach, then other modes, to end the gaming sesion with more Heist.

Also i could mention the clasic titles like Mario Kart 64, SSB, Mario Party 2, WWF Wrestlemania 2000, Star Fox 64, Golden Eye.

Almost forgot, ISSS64, probably the very first time a soccer game was so intense.

A lot of those games would be better if you just got the PC version, they play better on the PC and any old PC can run them better then their N64 counterparts

I spent more time playing Goldeneye with friends than pretty much all other games put together, including Tecmobowl and Super Dodge Ball.

The ignorance in the bolded part is overwhelming.

If you don't like the PC, just say so.

But what you said is one of the biggest lies i've seen in a while

First of all, not since the 80´s did you need to spend anything over 500 dollars to build a gaming PC that would last you at the very least 4 years.

Then there's the fact that that games like Turok and Duke Nukem look better on the PC, play better on the PC, allow mods and allow you to play online.

I'm sorry, but I just can't get over the ignorance of what you said, no matter how much PC games evolve, if you had spent 1000 dollars in 1996 your games would look better than anything the N64 could churn out, so in truth playing the N64 was was the obsolete hardware

You're right. The PC wins all and gives you +2 to dexterity. Moving on...games aren't all about processing power and graphics. Nostalgia is king here, and we're talking about playing N64 games with our friends. In the same room. On one couch. Eating Doritos and drinking Ni-hi. But thanks, though, for reminding us how galactically awesome PCs are. Really. We appreciate it.

No, it didn't, in 1996 you could get a high quality Pentium I and a Geforce 2 series for a relativly low price.

No one needs to pay 1000 dollars for the PC. but we're getting WAY off-topic here

Anytime. Don't hesitate to enter a discussion on N64, assert unsolicited opinion on superiority of PC, call someone ignorant for having their own opinion and then act righteously indignant.

NEStorianPriest

Except he never stated his opinion, he stated an erroneous fact. Stating that the PC costs 1000 dollars and is outdated in 2 years is not an opinion.

Or what, should I somehowj just accept that according to you there is no nostalgia to be had in PC gaming?

NEStorianPriest

Simple, I stated the TC could get these games on the PC which are easy to get and woulr probalby work better and then you decided to join in because aparantly the PC is an afront to god or something

Because you've never stated an opinion as fact.

NEStorianPriest

Which is irrelevant to the discussion at hand. saying that you need 1000 dollars for a PC that lasts you 2 years is not an opinion. It was a comment born out of ignorance in PC gaming.

How is what these games look like on a PC relevant to this thread? Check the title.

So why did you bother to bring it up? Check your posts.

NEStorianPriest

So i'm somehow forbbiden to recommend an alternate mean to play the game? Mariokart64fan originally mentioned Duke Nukem 3D. Why buy it for a console when you can legally download it for free and play it with your friends with online and improved graphics.

Did I somehow break the TOU by saying this?

There's no reason you shouldn't. But there's now reason you should either. Some people just like playing on the same old sysytem they bought, with the same old controller. I play games on my laptop that I used to play on my NEC and Commodore 64. And thanks to the U.S. Government's copyright exception ruling on abandonware, we can play pretty much anything if we have a PC, which is great. I played Legend of Kyrandia just last week. Most people know this. And they know a PC is brawnier and prettier. But calling someone ignorant after bating them isn't very nice. At least, it looked like bate.

Now look at all the space not taken up by N64 games people love to play with their frineds. Sorry guys.

Actually yes there are reason why I should: because we could get them for free, because he could use them to play online, because FPS' are hard to controll with the N64 controller when compared to a mouse, because of better graphics, because of mods.

what does this have to do with anything? Am I forcing someone to play the PC? no, I simply stated that there are alternatives. I can state them and I should state them and you are are in no position to tell me what I should and should not do

I personally found that Goldeneye and Star Fox 64 were very fun in multiplayer mode

Goldeneye, Diddy Kong Racing, and Mario Party were the ones I played most.

Me and my mates used to play 4 player Mario Kart nearly every day. Besides that, Mario Golf, F-Zero X, Diddy Kong Racing and Goldeneye were the main ones we played.

Them were the days.
